I'm 8 months into a 24th tour OCONUS and I want to leave. My family really hates it here and I'm not liking the job I'm currently doing. I was sold on a job description that's not remotely what the job details and every single person that was involved in the recruitment has moved on. To make matters more complicated I'm being offered a job CONUS that I've been applying for since turning it down 4yrs ago due to not wanting to wait in Afghanistan for a clearance upgrade that a received prior to my current assignment.

I received PCS entitlements and a relocation bonus and would be willing to pay it all back for the chance to accept the new that would place me close to my family for the first time and solve an issue with one of my children not being able to join me overseas due to custody issues. So the issue is more than we don't like it and ready to go there's a family issue as well.

The new job pays PCS but I thought there's a 12month PCS rule for payment of entitlements.

They don't own you regardless of what they think.

Tell them to pack sand and suffer the financial consequences.

Getting home, is hard.

I have been trying to get to Wyoming for 8 years.

Not had a single bite.

You will not be in violation. Since I'm lazy I won't retype my story but you can find it here...

I was in exactly the same sitiation. I PCS'd after six months in and owe nothing as I've met my 12 month obligation. The base CO issued a letter releasing me from any financial obligation after I provided multiple references to relevant findings by the CBCA.

The JAG was no help, they told me they do not get involved in personnel matters and it was unnecessary after I discovered the CBCA.

The only thing you may be liable for is your move back to the States. You owe nothing for the move to your current location.
