Good luck!!

I am curious about a situation like this, would it be risky if you only barely passed the PFT with a 5 and then shipped off to Q shortly after, since you will need a 12 regardless at Q? It took me about 4 months to get to 15 points so I'm sure it is doable, but I ended up with a stress fracture and plan on recovering before rebuilding. My plan is to delay taking my PFT until I am passing Pre-Q PFT with a minimum of 12 points, which then would give me a few more months to improve comfortably over 12 points for Q. Would hate to have outside circumstances (excessive heat, illness, eating the wrong thing) result in going from 12 to 11 points, or simply not having enough time to improve from 5 points to 12 points and then getting kicked out at Q.

I’m getting a decent amount of points otherwise that I’m not too worried about it (problem is just the 1.5 mile). Plus, if for some reason I don’t pass the first PFT at Q, they don’t kick you out. You just have to pass one with 12 points while you’re there and you take it three times, doesn’t matter if it’s the first one or the third one. Obviously ideally you’d wanna pass the first time, but it’s nice to know you wouldn’t get kicked out if you don’t pass the first one.

Good afternoon all,

I have just begun the background portion and am curious what the medical exam portion looks like - I've seen no guidance outside of the vision constraints. Any info on what the process entails or advice on documents and anything to have handy would be greatly appreciated.

I see you're a fellow Arizonan. I got my immunization records at MyIr.net and printed them out and they accepted them. The medical exam itself isn't really stressful. You'll get an email on what to bring. You'll go in, get your TB prick, they'll check your vision, hearing, balance, etc. You'll go back in a week to make sure the TB shot has disappeared and that's about it. You don't have to have the shots completely done when you do your medical check but it would help to get them now so it doesn't delay your process. I had 3 shots I had to get and I had to wait a month in between them.

I actually posted this a few pages back. I thought I absolutely sucked, but like someone else said "I'm still here!" I passed it, so keep your head up. You never know how you did. Fingers crossed for you!

The TB test must be read between 48-72 hours after your initial appointment, not a week. You can have your own healthcare provider read it instead if it's more convenient, but you have to pay for that yourself.

This is correct, I had a week in my mind because I had to wait a week after my initial Medical exam because I had taken the Covid vaccine 3 weeks prior and needed to be at least 4 weeks in order to take the TB test. My bad. But yeah, I had to go back to get my TB and then a few days later I went back and was cleared. It'll probably depend on where you do the medical but my TB "check" was a 2 second thing. I had to come in on a certain day but I could come in anytime during that day.

Can you just come back two days later without an appointment, or do you have to see what their availability is for an appointment when you go for medical? I just need to know if I can schedule the time off now of it I have to do it after my medical appointment for going back to get the TB test checked.

No appointment required. Before they inject the TB test they will ask you to make sure you are available to come back in that 48-72 hour window. When I went back for the reading, they just sent someone out into the lobby to meet me and take a quick look at my arm. As I mentioned before you can ask your own provider to do it and sign off on the form, but I found that a lot of places won't sign off on the reading if they didn't do the initial injection, so going back to wherever you did the medical exam is likely easier.

I’ve just applied and scheduled my phase I
Just have a question about 10 points 30% - will this make a difference?

If any, what VA disabilities can disqualify you? Is there a list of that

Yes this will definitely make a difference. Make sure to include the 10 pt preference in your resume and application. It could give you a leg up.
As far as disability disqualifies, im not sure what the guidelines are for that. But I've seen people on here with 90+ get through just fine. I've also seen people say they were asked to reduce their rating. So I dont know.

The disability is on a case by case basis, but the more issues you have, the more doctor clearances you're going to have to get. The rating amount is not the issue, but you're gonna need to demonstrate/prove that you are still able to complete the tasks necessary for the job. I escaped the service with only 10% rating for my hearing, but I'm having a difficult time getting cleared for it right now.

This may seem like a silly question- I'm curious what points you're referring to... I never received a ranking after phase 1. I was just notified that I passed. Are you referring to ranking after Phase 1?

Interesting. Just to clarify, your AC said both December and January are for sure? I think it’s fairly rare to have two classes back to back like that. Last I was told was December was all but confirmed and likely a February after that.

You have to remember we’re past the 20 year anniversary of 9/11. That single event is what inspired a lot of the current agents to become an agent which means most are close to if not already retiring. The agency is also growing. I’d expect there to be classes more frequently going forward

Long-time lurker here with a question! I am a graduate student looking to apply to the special agent job posting in the future once I have more work experience. I have worn glasses for the majority of my life and with my glasses my vision is a perfect 20/20. I have seen that as long as your vision is corrected 20/20, then you will pass the vision requirement, but they only mention contact lenses for this requirement. So does anyone know if glasses are allowed at Quantico and in the job after?
