This is the IRS thread ... we are researching now to see if you have Cancellation of Indebtedness income!
Gal Friday, lol, 😆!
Well, fortunately, I received (PSLF) Public Student Loan Forgiveness, and Public Student Loan Forgiveness for the military and federal employees is tax free.
The regular type of student loan forgiveness is not tax-free, and it takes 20 to 25 years.
For sure, Being in the military, or working for the federal government has some outstanding advantages.
TSP and pension can’t be beat.
Gal Friday I know you’ll get there , and when you do, make absolutely sure you put 5% in your TSP to get the match, because it’s free money!
I can’t tell you how many people I’ve known, in the federal service who don’t put 5% in their TSP , and it just leaves me triggered as an accountant.
I have convinced many people to do it, and I have walked away smiling, and happy for them, and their future gains.
C fund is the best, if you have more than 20 years before retirement.
Five years before, select one of the lifecycle funds corresponding to your expected retirement year.
