Hi everyone! Long-time lurker here that just recently decided to create a profile and share my experience thus far (and possibly get some feedback). Here are a few quick facts:

-Applied for roughly 20 to 30 jobs on USA jobs over the past few years
-Been referred for 3 different jobs: 2 GS-13s,1 GS-14
-Currently work for a major federal contractor, and am ~4 years post grad school
-Interned in 2017 at the agency I have been applying to in 2017, and have a great relationship with the staff there
-When I made the cert on one of the GS-13 positions I applied to, I let one of my old supervisors know, who is now an office director at the agency (DHHS); they are hiring like crazy across the agency
-One of my references told me that the hiring manager basically said I would be getting an offer (fingers crossed!)
-However, the steps below are regarding a position that I was NOT referred for on USA jobs, as both referrals were for positions within different centers than the one I have been interviewing for.

Here is the current timeline, which I will make sure to update when I have more info.

1. Referred (10/07/2021)
2. Emailed referral notification to old supervisor (current hiring manager)
3. Reference contact info requested (10/19/2021)
4. First interview on Zoom (10/20/2021)
5. Second interview, which included center director (11/1/2021)
6. References contacted (11/12 through 11/15/2021)
7. Tentative Offer: TBD?

I am definitely wondering how the USA jobs front will play out, since I have been interviewing for a completely different position than the one that I applied for. Will any of the statuses be updated to 'hired' when everything is said and done? Or does any of that really matter?

Does anyone have any ideas? I know it is for the same position title, just in a different center. I would assume that since I was referred for a GS-13 for those titles, it would be the GS-13 grade. Which is actually a pretty significant salary increase for me.

Either way, I am SUPER excited about this. The wait is unbelievable stressful.

How long did it take for them to request references after your second interview?

They technically asked for my references just prior to my first interview (possibly to get ahead of things).

However, they only reached out to my references about 10 days after my second interview..hope this helps!

Thanks. My past experience has shown me I probably didn’t selected.

It wouldn't hurt to check in with the HO. Especially if you got good vibes from them!
