Disability Retirement

The federal government allows employees who are unable to work to retire under a disability retirement. It is in the best interest of both employees and the federal government for employees to remain gainfully employed in their current grade or pay level, as long as they can provide useful and efficient service without endangering themselves, others or government property.
Disability retirement should be the very last option and should be used only when attempts have been made to preserve an individual's employment, and those attempts have failed.

Order our Disability Retirement guide to educate yourself on the rules and regulations concerning disability retirement for federal employees.

Below is an email I received today from OPM Retirement Services. I haven't been approved for disability retirement. My case is currently pending at reconsideration. Has anyone every received a letter/email like this from OPM before approval? The part that has me confused is "....federal retirees like you..." thanks!

"Celebrate 60 years of giving by continuing the legacy of the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). The CFC is one of the largest and most successful workplace fundraising campaigns in the world. After years of public service, federal retirees like you may want to continue giving back to their community, country, and people around the world. Whether you are returning or pledging for the first time, participation in the CFC is a great way to extend that spirit of service, as the funds raised help those who need it most. If you need to make a required minimum distribution from your retirement account, you can give to your favorite charities through the CFC! Pledge today at GiveCFC.org. "

Well at least you know OPM has a working email for you! Maybe it's a good sign getting this letter, we all get it. I got a new BCBS card during reconsideration 8 months before approval. I thought it was funny as it was for family coverage, I don't have a family. OPM then charged me $10,000 for their health, well tried to anyway.
