Hi All: I interviewed for a job at the Smithsonian and the announcement stated a few vacancies and this was confirmed at the interview. I was called by HR and they said that I was the second choice and to sit tight while they figure out if they can hire from the same cert or need to advertise. The interviewing process consisted of two panel interviews and was very intense. Has anyone on here been in a similar situation. It seems so straightforward but surprised when I was told that it might take awhile for them to get back to me. It seems to me that if advertised as a position with two vacancies, they could bypass readvertising.
Also, the job is an 11 with promotion potential to a GS 12. I'm currently a 12 step 8. Would they likely start me at an 11 step 10 as it is the salary closest to my current salary?
Thank you in advance!
