I received the e-mail stating I am tentatively eligible for GS 7/9. Am I safe to assume the KASE is next, or do we get referred and then take the KASE exam, if anyone happens to know? Edited by user Wednesday, January 5, 2022 9:08:58 AM(UTC)

I don't know how far you are in the process. First step application. You are determined eligible based solely on the responses you provided on the online application. Then you are invited to online test/simulation. If you pass that part, your supporting documents are reviewed to ensure you are eligible. A lot of people without the 15 accounting credits are disqualified during this review. If you are deemed eligible you are invited to take the KASE.

Thank you! Yes, I took the online test/simulation already. I never received any indication that I passed, other than recently receiving the tentatively eligible e-mail. From what I gathered from previous posts, the KASE comes next, so I was unsure on when to expect that.

This time is different then in the past. In the past you received an email that said you passed the online assessment. The email from that said you passed the assessment and the next step was a review of your resume and transcripts to determine if you meet minimum specialized experience or education qualifications as described in the vacancy announcement. Assuming that the email that went out means you passed the online assessment, the next step will be the review by an HR specialist. You'll then receive an email letting you know that you meet the basic qualifications after their review. Once you get that, you're eligible for the KASE and a separate email will come to schedule that. Then it's a waiting game to get the results and your final determination before being referred for an interview.

I am currently GS11, step 2 Revenue Agent for the IRS. I will receive my GS-12 in September. This posting was only for GS7/9. I looked and GS12 in my area starts at $82,601 but a GS9-step 10 only makes $74,048.00. So I guess my question is, if I get my GS-12 before I receive an offer for this posting, how high can I negotiate my salary. Would the GS9, step 10 be the highest I could get and I would just have to take that huge pay cut? can I negotiate to at least get my GS11 faster than 52 weeks?

Because the salary for GS-9, step 10 with LEAP would be $92,560.

If GS12-1 is $82,601.00 and a GS9-6 is $66,453.00 but with LEAP is $83,066.25, would they put me as a GS9-6 or a GS9-10? Also, do you get LEAP and Locality Pay while at FLETC?

I believe, but am not certain, they’d match your salary before considering LEAP. I was an external hire so I didn’t encounter this issue. You get locality of your POD and LEAP while in FLETC

They were a GS-13 in the IRS when hired for CI, so they received matching GS-13 pay plus LEAP.
