Good morning, I'm considering a PCS from one Army agency to another, but am wondering what the community thinks of in regards to transitioning from a GS-13 step 5 position to a NH-03? From what I've read, the NH-03 band encompasses GS12-13, but it almost feels like I'd be taking a demotion. My current position, which I do enjoy, is in a State that we no longer wish to live in. The new position is in an state/area where we have desired to live for a long time, and PCS is authorized. It's my understanding that I would get a raise based on the percentage complete of my current step, adjusted for locality. Is that correct? Thanks! You really have to watch pay bands.
The plus is that you can generally get a step increase yearly or biannually.
The downside is that many will be GS-12/13 but top out at GS-12 step 10.
Location matters more in life than anything else though.
I am considering a going to a GS-12 with the Park Service to get where I want. I am a GS-14.
