Hi everyone, sorry if this has been asked a thousand times. I tried searching through old posts and couldn’t specifically find a similar situation.
I am currently a GS 12-1 with a DHS agency. I am transferring to another DHS agency that offers ladder promotion to GS-12. I accepted a final offer starting as a GS 9-10 that matches my current GS-12 pay. My new location has a much higher locality pay. Is it a possibility to speak with my new supervisor or MSS after I start to ask to be reinstated as a GS-12 in this position?

You accepted the offer at a GS9-10. Enough said. You can speak to whomever you wish, just be ready for the "Not ONLY No..." answer. They matched your GS-12 salary AND its a ladder back to GS-12. What more can you want? If you dont want the temporary downgrade, decline the position.

This said, you can ask your supervisor if they feel comfortable accelerating your promotion as you have already been a GS12. Of course, they would wan to see you demonstrate you can do the job at that level beforehand. |
