I am a newer employee, only been here for 3 months. I applied and was hired as a PSE for a 4 hour office RMPO. The reason I took this job is because it works around me having to care for my disabled husband. My husband is in final stage kidney failure and has to go to dialysis 3 days a week out of town. The hours for this small office are perfect so I can work and make an income while caring for him. But my main office that runs the RMPO has been scheduling me in there main office to clerk. They say that they have some changes in employees so need me to go and clerk in that office. So they schedule me there and have someone from another office come and cover my office. I asked why cant the one coming to cover my office just go to that office. They said they are also in an RMPO and dont know RSS offices they only know manual. Can they do that? Is there anything I can do to stay in my office and no have to go to the bigger office?

First question I would ask is are they using PTF clerks with in the 50 miles radius first? If not, that is an issue. You might, if you haven't already, explain your situation about your husband. They may take that into consideration, I know I would if one of my clerks came to me with that issue.

Sadly I've seen too many managers at the post office that never take employee needs into account. It's a nationwide systemic problem within the post office. We're truly a broken organization in so many ways.
