I have an interview scheduled next week with the V.A. for an IT Specialist (Cust. Supp / GS9) postion.
I am 2 months into a Higher Ed. job with the State (IT Spec 2) - great benefits, but the annual salary is about 10k less than a GS 9.
I waited literaly years for an IT job to open at the V.A. hospital near my house. Just my luck there are 3 vacancies right after I land a State job.
Does anyone have any experience going from a state to a federal job? Would going from state to federal be the wise choice (providing I get an offer)?
Thanks in Advance!

Can you tell me what KSA's you were asked and maybe how they were answered? I am putting together my KSA's for a position in my area and would like to see what you used and maybe what they liked to see.

KSA's are so subjective and I really could use some feedback on them.

You can email me back at my email if you would like.

As far as moving from a State job to the Federal, I would do this in a heartbeat. With the states in the financial mess some of them are, the job is more stable in the Federal Govt in my opinion.

Off the top of my head the KSA's were mostly generic customer service.

An example of my cover letter bullet points:

Enjoys learning new things and sharing knowledge.
Patient - likes helping others.
Good at solving difficult problems in a calm and efficient manner.

I used my resume to list my education and experience.
