DHS

The Department of Homeland Security has a vital mission: to secure the nation from the many threats we face. This requires the dedication of more than 230,000 employees in jobs that range from aviation and border security to emergency response, from cybersecurity analyst to chemical facility inspector. [Their] duties are wide-ranging, but [their] goal is clear: keeping America safe. (source: www.dhs.gov)

-I recently applied for a few Mission Support Specialist jobs and one of them was referred to the selecting official. It gave me a first and last name of an HR rep to call and the number to call was from Dallas. The rest of the numbers say HR assistant and come from Orange County CA. Is that a promising sign when they give you a specific HR rep to call or am I just getting my hopes up?

- On another note if they select someone else for a job will that status show up in the Application Manager page?

-I submitted on the 02/24/10 and received my NOR and the letter that says my application has been referred to the selecting official on 04/07/10. It looks like it taking about a month from this to a phone call from what the other guys have been getting. Does this sound like I was passed up?

No, it takes a long time for anything to happen.  But you could always call to find out.
