Good idea, done!
Sure hope we get more data, kinda slow turn out... Looks pretty bad right now with 67% at 6+ months.

What does "On Schedule" mean? What "schedule"? I can't picture anything less than "a few months".

OPM has a schedule? I knew they had two speeds slower and slowest but I didn't know they had a schedule :) I'm at 6 months and counting.................. By the way, whats the record for longest time to get finalized?

How about: <= 3 months, < 6, < 12, Year or more
Results wouldn't be indicative of the general retirement experience as most likely the numbers will be skewed to the high side due to more people having issues with the process being on this board -- then not.
It might be useful to track FERS vs CSRS times separately if possible.

8 mos here. Retired Sep 2011. Longest I've heard of is 14 mos. |

Did a lilttle editing to catch your idea.
I thought about the skewed data too... People with a good result may not come to the forum for advice. But, some people going through the process looking for general information might pop in and give us an update!

I had heard to expect 3 months as normal. Did some editing to capture this. Don't want to change any more or I might be skewing with exsisting data.
Thanks to everyone who has taken the pole! Was interested to see the buyout time frame listed.

I suspect most of these with 6 moths or plus retired in 2010 or the first six month of 2011. Things have improved a little since mid 2011. Things started to get bad the end of 2009.

That is about right. I retired on November 9, 2009, and was not finalized until February 3, 2010. While this doesn't sound long at all by recent standards, I was really worried because that seemed longer than previous retirees had reported (here) and because my retirement was very simple. FERS MRA+10, one agency, no other complicating factors. Then those who retired around December 31st of 2009 or early January 2010 were really delayed! I was so glad that I didn't get caught up in that.

I retired from DoD 12/31/11 under the CSRS (offset) system.
1. retired 12/31/11
2. received lump sum 1/13/12
3. received letter with CSA# 1/23/11 (letter was dated 1/18/12) and retiree card
NOTE: HR sent in my change of address info to DFAS on Nov 21, '11.
Also, HR sent a package with a letter (dated 12/31/11) about when to expect the first interim check. It was to be within 90 days. The envelope was postmarked 1/6/12.
Hope this helps.

1) Date of retirement: Feb/24/2011
2) Weeks to receive A/L: 4
3) Weeks to receive Buyout $ if applicable: N/A
4) Weeks to receive interim and %%% of pay: 5
5) Months to complete: Finalized the first time after 4 months. The second attempt almost ended after my 10 month into retirement, but they changed their mind to do it over again. It looks now like it could be several more months.
6) OPM processing by D.C. or Boyers, PA: Both, it started at Boyers, was passed to DC, then returned to my former employer to do over.
7) FERS or CSRS: My agency retired me as FERS, it appears my situation fits into a special situation covered by a lawsuit: Connor v. OPM where it is up in the air what system I will retire under.
I suspect when my former agency gets tired of playing with it they will forward it to someone in Zimbabwe to sit on for a few more months.

I expect things to get worse at OPM this next two year as the number of retirees increases.

Oh my gosh, I just looked up Connor v. OPM. Could you be converted to CSRS?? That would be so complicated! Did you get matching TSP? What plan were you expecting? I am so sorry to hear your situation!
