Not so good for that employee. I believe they have pretty much the lowest level of protection. Not sure what happens if they also happen to be a disabled vet...I'm sure somebody will come along with more information.

It depends. Many times job are offered elsewhere if your are willing to move you still have a job. Otherwise you could be one of the first to go out the door.

If Congress approved a BRAC today. By the time all of the studies were done and Congress approved the list. And they started closing the base. Your looking at atleast 5 years.
How long is your probationary period?
