Same for me as well. For NY, SF, Cleveland. Applied for all 10 duty stations.
It's my understanding that only people from the BQ list are in the pool for selection/interviews/hiring.
I've gotten BQ notifications for applications before, but never several from different duty stations.
Not holding my breath though. Federal hiring always seems to be a mystery.

Hello,
I just wanted to add that I too received multiple emails regarding this position, saying I'm best qualified and have met the pre-screening criteria. I applied for all grade levels in the NY location.
I would also like to add that it's good to see people posting about attorney positions. I've been lurking for a while and the posts about attorney positions are rare and tend to be older.
I hope if anyone else hears anything about this position they'll post a follow-up, I know I will.

You have all received results under Category Rating, which classes applicants as one of three types - generally Best (or Highly) Qualified, Well Qualified or Qualified. Under Category Rating, only the highest category rated applicants are referred, or placed on a hiring certificate given to the hiring official. If you look at the original announcement you'll see what the nomenclature is for your particular positions.

Hi, has anyone been interviewed about this job? I am really interested and have received the same emails but I have no clue about the process. Thanks for sharing your information.

So I had a 2nd round interview in the ATL office 2 weeks ago. The SO said they were hoping to start in Sept. and it would be a few weeks before hearing back. She also said she wasn't 100% sure if DC officials were going to include a 3rd round. Has anyone heard anything on this position? She noted that there was hiring across the country so I don't know if that makes a difference in the process for DC HR. I gave in to my anxiety today and called the HR lady listed but she didn't answer. I chose not to leave a message. Help???

can anyone provide a timeline for between referral to selecting official and when candidates are contacted for interviews (or, alternatively, told they did not make the cut)? And does anyone have any idea approximately how many people apply for a given position? Thanks all for your assistance (and patience - I'm new here!)

@pepesquire My personal experience...I didn't get the job and never heard back after 2 rounds. I applied in April but interviews weren't conducted until August. I was told around 1200 people applied. I am not sure if that was after weeding out who was "best qualified" or before. For another city I applied in March and wasn't contacted until May.

I submitted an application for this in April and was referred to a selecting official on May 6th. Anyone know whether it would be a good idea to contact them for an update?

I also applied for this job (Boston office) in April. I was referred to the selecting official on April 28th, and haven't heard anything since. Has anyone who applied to the Boston office heard anything about interviews?

You're always wise to enquire about the status of a position - particularly when it's been going on for three months. Politely asking is fine.

Oh, I applied to several General Attorney positions with the Department of Ed in DC but the first one just closed maybe on 04/15, was just wondering if I would've heard anything back yet. How long was it between the close date and the first email y'all received about being among the best qualified?

I applied to an attorney position in the OCR on 8/19 and received a best qualified email today, 9/23. Did any of the previous posters get the position they applied for? How long after receiving the BQ email were you contacted for an interview? Thanks in advance!

That looks like 2 different jobs (GS11 and GS12). I'm not sure how to interpret that… I just got the "pre-screening criteria" email today from San Fran. GS-905-9, 11, 12 Just from reading it, it seems like the "among the best qualified" is a step above "pre screening". I'm not sure though... Back to top

Hi all,
Did anyone apply to the general attorney - civil rights (https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/428151900). If so, have you heard back re: referral? I'll keep posted if I hear anything. Thanks.
