DHS
The Department of Homeland Security has a vital mission: to secure the nation from the many threats we face. This requires the dedication of more than 230,000 employees in jobs that range from aviation and border security to emergency response, from cybersecurity analyst to chemical facility inspector. [Their] duties are wide-ranging, but [their] goal is clear: keeping America safe. (source: www.dhs.gov)

For all you waiting, I understand FPS HR has lost some employees in the last couple of months. I don't know if they will get any help or if work on the 'list' will just stop/slow even more. Funny you say it won't happen because my co-worker is down there right now, and a guy in his class just started the process with FPS from down at FLETC. No situation is the same for everyone I guess. MarinePSS I don't know who told you that you will be able to get picked up by going over to the FPS building at FLETC (they don't poach new graduates), I wouldn't bank on that as they have no hiring authority and all of it is handled by NPPD HR personnel. I just came back from PSTP down there (I got picked up in May at Belvoir) and its all instructors in that building. I know for sure Region 11 (DC) will only hire through the fairs, I have asked as a few of my co-workers from my prior agency were interested in submitting resumes. I would keep up with the Ft Belvoir employment readiness program page on Facebook, they always post when FPS is coming to do a fair.

It will vary person to person depending on if you have uptp already and the needs to fill slots in class. I got a months notice, my buddy got about 2 weeks when he got his EOD and FLETC date.

Saw a wrecked FPS Tahoe parked at an Ontario Fire Department station in Southern California over the holidays. Spotted it immediately as I exited the freeway, all I could see was a shattered windshield. Did anyone else spot DHS Tahoes on scene at the San Bernardino incident? I'm not insinuating this is related.

BUT, I spoke to local region HR person, the other day, and they said I have to go through basic CITP again. This is a pretty big discrepancy. It has always been my understanding that as long as their was no break in service, then your previous CITP training is still valid. Any thoughts on the subject? its because you took the school so long ago, things change , case study changes. they want you to be on top of new LEO and CI techniques. you went to CITP almost 10 years ago. a lot has changed.

Everybody, in regards to my previous post about CITP, I got an answer from FLETC and DHS. FLETC reps and DHS reps advised that CITP and many other training programs are just like a college degree. They are good forever upon the successful completion of CITP or other programs.
They did say that agencies can do as they please and require what they want from people they hire within certain guidelines.
Keeping that in mind they also said that generally the rule is that a successful CITP completion is still "valid" as long as the individual has remained in federal law enforcement service and there has not been a break of more than 2 years of that FED LE service at any time during the period of service.
