I have an IRA that I contributed to many years ago and have not put anything more into it. I would like to know if it is possible to close out that account and move the funds to my TSP account.

Yes you can transfer IRA funds (excluding any basis) into your TSP account. The rules which govern transferring an IRA into your TSP account can be found in the booklet Summary of the Thrift Savings Plan, page 7 at: http://www.tsp.gov/forms/tspbk08.pdf and Form TSP-60, Request for a Transfer Into the TSP at: http://www.tsp.gov/forms/tsp-60.pdf

Keep in mind, TSP only has a FEW funds. There are over 10,000 mutual funds out there to choose from. I have a few seperate IRA's from the tsp, because the tsp does not offer the funds/diversity I was looking for.
