It is and it isnt. IT shows what could happen if your bank is NOT insured. On the other hand, when the government closes a bank that IS insured,in a way its a good thing. It means the regulators have decided that the bank is in danger of imminent collapse,so they usually end up brokering a deal to a larger more stable institution to keep from having to front the cash for all the depositors which would happen if they just let it fail,or at least that's my understanding of the process.

Lee Beck, Sorry this is a really late post and you may have already made some decisions. Lee may I suggest you contact these people they are in the Raleigh NC area so you may have already heard of them. They have a segment on one of the talk radio stations that I listen to. The Finacial Safari with coach Pete D, Arruda. They cover some good topics concerning investing. the website is www.irahero.com I would strongly recommend you find a reputable company that has your interest with that kind of $$$$ your can do so much better and the things that they talk about may just be suited to your specfic needs. Sorry for such a late post to this. If you have already decided it may still be in your interest to have a talk with them. Good luck and remember no one is going to watch after your money so you have too!
