After about 2 years of relentless applications, many referrals and a couple interviews, I finally see some light! Here's my current timeline with the US Army Corps of Engineers

Recent Graduates Contract Specialist - GS 7/9/11/12

6/5 -6/15/17 - Original Posting Open

Closed and was notified that the announcement was no longer valid and if I wished to reapply, then to follow the link for the current posting that was reopened July 7/10/17-7/14/17.

10/2 - Referred

10/13 - Contacted for interview

10/23 - Phone Interview with Panel

11/20 - Tentative Job Offer!

Submitted paperwork today so hoping all goes well. I already have an active secret clearance with my current job as a contractor. I'm an Iraq and Afghanistan Veteran so the preference did help.

Update: Firm Offer on 12/4. EOD on 12/26!!

Received unsolicited tentative offer for a position: 12/1
Asked for higher starting step: 12/14
Higher starting step granted: 12/18
Accepted offer: 12/19

I'm assuming this agency got my resume from the DC IT hiring fair in November, since I did not apply for this position, didn't interview for it, and the first I heard about it was when I got the unsolicited, random email with the offer.

Been working for about a month, and applied for a transfer to an 0083 GS-6 at same post and a GS-7 within my own section, so 2 promotion opportunities in the first month!

Just a little encouragement for anyone leaving private sector for feds....took a paycut this time last year to come in as GS12 Step 6, full performance for my role is 13 and I just got it 13 Step 3, one year in....I took a gamble and it worked! Kept my head down and focused on doing a good job and back to my old salary with greater balance in my personal life!

Applying for a 0132 series job at HHS.
Here's the timeline so far:

Applied with 10 point veteran status - 11/10
Referred to hiring manager as of 12/12
Contacted for interview on 01/04
Conducted in-person interview 01/10
(think I did pretty well and satisfied the three person panel on their questions)

Informed today the rest of the candidates should be interviewed until the end of the week
Should hear back within 1.5 to 2 weeks on the hiring decision

Now originally I believe I would've had the chance for a phone interview, but I asked about doing it in person and they obliged. Does anyone know if that helps to make a difference with the hiring officials making a choice? (outside of personally appreciating someone showing up to the middle of DC for the interview.)

New update: Received my Tentative Offer today, quite the quick turn around. Requesting a higher starting step to offset the difference in salaries so we will see from here.

Realized that the 330 days it is estimated to take for my security clearance will be up February 2! Heh. Maybe I'll hear something by like June.

Well this was my first time applying for a Forest Technician (Wildland Dispatcher) with a National Forest, and I have to say I am a bit disappointed with the process.

Applied Jan 8
Received Jan 9
Not Referred Jan 10 on one application

The other application seems to be lost in limbo, forever to be sitting in the master "Received" bin.

Can anyone tell me what this REALLY means? "Eligible Not Referred - Demo Quality Not Met" There was no test. Just some questions asking about qualifications. I don't have a degree, but I do have college credits, I was a firefighter for 15 years (including wildland), and I was a Dispatcher (911) and was Dispatch on site in search and rescue for several years. I sent everything, including transcripts. So I'd love to know what automated machine decided I wasn't qualified. Any thoughts, advice, ideas to offer someone who was rather put off? I mean, realistically I wasn't expecting to get a job 1st time out, but not even referred to the recruiting manager that I had been in contact with prior? Frustrating.

Without knowing any further details, I'd suggest you download your completed application package and go over the questionnaire and the announcement item by item. You may have clicked a wrong box.

Best of luck

Referred: 12/20/17
Interview and writing sample request: 1/13/18
Interview: 1/16/18

Not Selected. Stated another candidate selected.

Although this was a quick turnaround, I did my very best. I had my interview rescheduled 3x due to the possibility of a government shutdown on Friday (which happened).

I will keep trying!

Application still shows "Received" in USAJobs, I never got a referral notice or had an interview, just got the TO email a week shy of a year after I applied.
