Social Security Administration

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is an independent agency of the United States federal government that administers Social Security, a social insurance program consisting of retirement, disability, and survivors' benefits. To qualify for these benefits, most American workers pay Social Security taxes on their earnings; future benefits are based on the employees' contributions. (Source: Wikipedia)

There have been several openings for Paralegal positions with OHO (fka ODAR). I just made BQ list and referred. I know it takes a few months to hear anything. Can someone provide a general time line and hiring process experience.

Is there anyone who has applied for any of the paralegal positions. I am hopeful someone can shed some light about this position. I'm currently an SCT but have been a paralegal in the private sector quite a number of years.

Thank you.

I'm updating my information for someone who may have questions in the future.

I was notified last Tuesday by an email and IM. I had to provide a legal writing sample prior to my interview on Friday.

I had my interview, which lasted approximately 40 minutes. I was interviewed by the HOD and Group SUP. There were 8 questions. One question in particular had a series of 3 questions in one.

Personally, even if I do not land the job, the experience and knowledge I received was beneficial for future opportunities.

Update: I did not get the job. Another candidate was selected. The experience was awesome. I can only learn from this amazing invitation. Cheers

Update: I learned on Monday that an internal candidate was chosen. Word has it, everyone in the office knew this individual would be chosen. Nice. I suppose I am grateful I practiced how to interview? Next...and moving on.

Other Agencies hire Paralegals, including OPM (Legal Administrative Specialists). Also check the U.S. Court systems website. They don't always post on USAJobs. Good luck.

SD Analyst, I will check the other Agencies. On the OPM job, is that posted in USA Jobs?

I did not know they had U.S. Court systems website. I am not sure where to find but it helps broaden the search.

Thank you so much!

EOUSA, DoD, State Dept. also hires Paralegals. I think most can be found on USAJobs. Sometimes you'll see the D.C. Court advertising on USAJobs

U.S. Court Systems jobs: http://www.uscourts.gov/...rs/search-judiciary-jobs
OPM (Office of Personnel Management) posts its jobs on USAJobs. I would suggest going to USAJobs and doing a search on "Paralegal" and also maybe "legal" to encompass other job titles.

The series for Paralegal is 0950. All the legal positions are series 09--.
