I have applied to around 50 FEMA jobs. Has anyone's status ever changed, whether they were hired or not? Mine just states received.

The status changes if you are referred to the hiring official. It will say referred.

It happens very frequently. Many organizations never spend the follow up time to change the status of an application. Especially if you weren't selected.

I applied to some FEMA jobs a while back. They never seem to update the status in USAJobs. You have to check on their website, I think you can get there via USAJobs.

It all depends on your HR person. In my case.... the first job I applied for and was offered the job for showed as selected. They came back and pulled the offer due to funding and it stills shows selected. This last go around applied for a job USAJobs shows received. I was selected for the position and accepted it. It still says received. So it's really no telling.

Wondering if anyone with experience in the FEMA hiring process can attest to whether or not they send emails at each step? Have you been getting / or did you get an email stating you were referred or not referred?

They called for an interview once but cancelled it and the announcement a few days later. Then they reannounced and cancelled another that one too. Then the opened a third position but made it temporary. They said they will email notice of results. They haven't been putting the status changes in USAJobs. I only receive emails from them

I've applied to a total of about 300 or so jobs over the past few years, and the vast majority are still "Received" including my current position where I've been since September.

USAJobs seems to have a great notification system in place if only HR would actually use it...

HR employees, like every other federal employee, are overworked. Some are diligent and respond properly to every step in the hiring process. Others, whether they are severely overwhelmed or just don't care, don't bother to update USA Jobs at all. Just like life, there are the exemplary workers, the *****birds, and every variation in-between.

I was interviewed about a month ago... just would like to know either way... but I understand this is the way it goes. Apply, try to forget. Interview, try to forget.
