Hello.

I took a position as the Contract Officer Representative within DoD. While the PD has the position titled as "Contract Administrator"; the position has an Occ Code of 1102. Under the Condition of Employment the requirement is to maintain security eligibility for IT Level II.

So...in my time here, I assumed a DAWIA certification as an 1102 is required. While that is a good cert to have for long-term career options, I can't locate a formal requirement mandating DAWIA certification. Is a DAWIA cert required just because I'm in an 1102 position?

Any recommendations or other help, please and thank you.

You are in DoD and in Acquisitions (1102 being Contracting), and as such you are required to have DAWIA certification (and depending on your grade, it will specify what level that must be at). (the last A in DAWIA is "Act", so this is a law).

Look on your position description, it should be listed there as a condition of employment if it is required.
