I wasn't even aware that there was a provisional clearance for this position. I don't recall ever being given that option. I can tell you that I interviewed with my BI near the beginning of February, my background isn't nearly as extensive as yours (one job and only lived in one state) and I haven't heard anything since then so be ready to wait at least a month and a half possibly more. What location were you selected for?

My timeline:

Applied: August 2017
Interviewed: February 2018
COE: February

I have not received an EOD date yet but just to give you a timeline, I met with my background investigator on February 11th and haven't heard anything since. So expect at least a month and a half.

UPDATE to my timeline...

- B.A. in Criminology
- 8 years with TSA (5 as a screening officer, 3 as a Behavior Detection Officer)

- Applied 8/10/17
- Referred 11/28/17 (Huntsville, AL and others)
- Phone Interview 12/27/17
- Personal Interview 1/11/18
- Tentative Offer 1/30/18 (Huntsville, AL)
- SF-86 submitted 1/31/18
- Drug test and fingerprinting results mailed 2/1/18
- Meeting with BI 2/12/18
- Background Investigation closed 2/28/18
- Final Offer?
- EOD?

The only thing new that happened is I was contacted this past Wednesday by the supervisor of the office I will be working at asking if I had heard anything. I told her no and she told me that she was informed that my background investigation was closed at the end of February (I was never informed when it closed) and that it is stuck in adjudication. Apparently, due to the high amounts of hiring the adjudication process is taking some delays.

I was also informed that I missed the cutoff dates for the April training class and that she is hoping I get my final offer before the cutoff dates for the May class, which she said is April 27th. The May class runs from May 22nd - June 30th. She also said she has already got me GOV car and she introduced me to my mentor when I finally do EOD, which we are hoping will be May 14th. So, sounds likes since my background opened and closed so fast they are expecting a suitable adjudication as am I. TWO THUMBS UP!

Anyone else stuck in the government limbo?

APPLIED 8/2017
PHONE INTERVIEW 12/2017
EMAIL CONTACT BY SAME OFFICE 3/23/17-----WAS CONATACTED BY SA IN CHARGE AND WAS ASKED IF I AM STILL INTERESTED IN THE POSITION, I SAID YES. HE SAID THAT THEY DID SELECT FOR PREVIOUS SPOTS BUT SINCE SOMEONE IS RETIRING IN APRIL HE WANTED MY REFERENCES TO CALL AND MY CURRENT MANAGER AND COWORKER.

I GUESS THIS IS GOOD NEWS. IT SEEMS LIKE TS CLEARANCE IS NOT TAKING LONG, EXPEDITED. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW FAST THIS PROCESS IS?? WHAT'S NEXT?

Are you still talking about the OPM Background Investigator position or another position you applied for? If you are talking about the OPM BI position it sounds like you are in the selection process of the BI position and have not received a tentative offer yet. Which confuses me because your "signature" under your last message says you received a tentative offer on January 22nd and have already had your meeting with the BI assigned to your case? Anyway, I received a email from the SAC after my interview and they requested to speak to my manager/supervisor before offering a tentative offer, which it sounds like that is where you currently are in the process. Hope that helps. Your situation seems to be different from anyone else's.

Congrats on the quick BI. Seems like most folks are at the same stage in the process so I’m sure adjudication will be slammed with work. I’m just hoping it doesn’t take about a year otherwise they may lose folks they’ve already invested in to other agency openings.
My timeline:

Applied: August 2017
Interviewed: February 2018
COE: February

I hear that! It can't take a year! I was told they are hoping I'm getting in the May training class so I'm assuming they are only about a month behind. Also my neighbor told me a friend of his applied to the same announcement for Pensacola, FL and he got into the April class so I really hope to hear something in the next 30 days. I'm so ready to move on and get out of TSA!

Good luck with your class in WPA.
*DISCLAIMER*Correctly filling out your security forms will not guarantee you a clearance in 3 months BUT be sloppy and your case will be in the field a heck of a lot longer, guaranteed.

Evanobc my timeline is for a different position with USCIS. But you are right I am talking about OPM BI NBIB. I guess TO is next after references being contacted. Thanks for your reply

Ok now I understand. It's just confusing having a timeline for USCIS and commenting on the OPM forum. It sounds like they are deciding whether or not to give you a tentative offer. Good luck!
