Nothing in the announcement has changed. Its exactly the same. What is the purpose of Cancelling a Announcement after its been closed and then reposting it the same day?

jrg2000 - you have been on this forum for a good length of time, have you not already seen this same topic discussed multiple times?

I recall people saying they cancelled because they had some1 already in mind.

But for them to repost the same day, I wasnt sure the reasin.

Could you please remind me the reason why?

I was wondering if it was because they didnnt reach the target amount of applicants they wanted or something of that nature.

Because nothing in the new announcement changed.

Disregard last, I see you said cancelled right after closing and reposted so no cert yet. I need more coffee.

Probably because their pre-select didn't get their application submitted in time, or their pre-select didn't make the cert.

haha. thats not good.

It was 1 position in Anaheim. So youre probably right.

Glad it was only my fall back option.

Don't count on jobs posted on USAJobs as any "options" including fall back option. Chances are you won't even get an interview after applying to triple digits of jobs.

Only 2 jobs. In case the one I was already referred to fail through, I applied for this position in another city, further out.

So If I dont get the coveted interview im seeking for the job that referred me to hiring officials, Ill still have this job to got to. Same position different location.

I dont think 2 jobs is bad. Im very methodical with my approach. I take my time, and focus on what I feel I could do.

Thats why this cancellation hurts. i dont apply to much. I was banking on this job and another similar job.

job cancel and repost

it has happened to me before (three times), not very common, but does happen

my guess to the reasons:
1. person they had "pre-selected" for the job did not make the cert (for whatever reasons)

2. they did not feel that had enough "quality" candidates (for whatever reasons)

3. they may not have funding for it now, but may have funding for it 4 months from now (or they will cancel it again)

4. they went through the whole hiring process (including interviews) and didn't feel comfortable enough to select anyone (for whatever reasons)

trying to understand anything about HR, hiring practices, USAJOBS applicant status updates, why not selected, why re-advertise will "make your head spin" and cause you more tension than you need

my advise after dealing with these situations for many years...don't try to analyze it, don't try to understand it, don't "fight" it...just keep applying and hope for the best...do you best with things in your control (resume, interview) and don't stress about things outside your control (the hiring process)

oh yeah, patience and persistence are valuable assets

good luck!

You will be dissapointed if you're banking on an offer, or even an interview, by applying to two jobs.

I hope you're currently employed.

I agree with mooch2112, the things you cannot control might anger you (like this topic) but you really just have to keep applying effort towards what you can control. Having been a civil servant for 8 years now I have had this happen to me also. However, I don't give it much thought because I know it's all part of the game.

I find it silly when folks dwell on things like how many people were referred, FIOA requests to find out who was hired, etc. I always suggest one spend the time working on the resume, acquiring skills/education and networking.

I work in HR, someone made a mistake that you cannot see. Cancel and repost immediately, do you mean within hours, the next day? If so, nobody generates a cert that quickly, unless they are not reviewing the applications!

Yes It was the next day.

I did notice a mistake when I retook the questionaire. There was 6 options to a particular question that verified eligibility on the original posting, on the new announcement it was only 5.

So there was a change.
