Social Security Administration

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is an independent agency of the United States federal government that administers Social Security, a social insurance program consisting of retirement, disability, and survivors' benefits. To qualify for these benefits, most American workers pay Social Security taxes on their earnings; future benefits are based on the employees' contributions. (Source: Wikipedia)

I’ll need to check with mines as well.

I haven’t received a Social Security statement about retirement benefits as well.

SS statement usually is mailed 1 time a yr.However,
I think if you have a SS acct on line, your statement of benifits
Of benifits are on line....and you don’t receive by mail.

Yep, seems like that is just your earning statement and Social Security estimates of when you retire, which everyone gets if you have signed up. I don't think they mail it anymore yearly.

But has anyone heard anything, I know as of the end of July interviews were still ongoing. Anyone asked during their interview about when locations are determined or the estimated start date?

I don't recall signing up for estimates but maybe my ex-husband did.

I was told that hiring would be done by the end of the fiscal year. They didn't say classes would start before then. But they didn't say they wouldn't. ha.

On another note, does anyone know the time frame of the classes? I think I remember them saying a year or maybe it was a year probationary period. They said they were interviewing for another couple of weeks (which would bring it to late July) and then sending all of the applications together to the next step.

Since my references have not been called, my hope is diminishing.

Hi. They told me that training lasted 13 weeks for claims specialist position.
Regarding checking of references. From what I have read on line, it appears people have said NY checked references quickly, but I have not seen posted any one from NJ saying references were checked.

But who knows? Can anyone from NJ confirm?

There's an announcement open for BA's in Queens, NY. It closes 8/10/2018, # DEU-10277395-NY-TA-018-032.

There were different interviewers. Some may be waiting until the end to make their reference checks.

Same here. My interviewers ended the interview with we done lets go, no any questions at the end or even give an overview of the process.

Anyone has update regarding this position? Do you know when will the position start? By the way, my interview was on 7/10, not fingerprint on interview date. All references were checked on 7/26. Check usajobs.gov status but no update yet. Not sure if the hiring is still ongoing, or maybe I am already out of the process?

Did anyone receive any notice from SSA? thanks.

Good luck Hopeful! I have heard of reference checks for this position for existing fed employees, and for bilingual applicants. If you are higher of them...You seem like you are ahead of the curve. 😀 😀

Good luck - hope you get a call !

Does anyone know what area code a call would come from? I can't always check my phone at work and have had a missed call from the Washington DC area today. No voicemail though. Probably just telemarketers.
