I was advised to apply for any other position and if I selected I have to come back for interview! It sounds really confusing. They have spent a lot of time and money conducting background investigation and now saying my application is closed since the position is no longer available. Any advice for what to do next? Any has similar experience?

I have applied in May , 2017 and since that time I was in processing and have completed almost many security screening steps .

This happened to me after I completed poly, etc. When I started the process they let me know they give a CJO to 5 people for each open billet and whoever makes it through the process first gets the FJO. I had to apply again and interview, etc.

VelcroTech,

I just PM you can you reply back!

Hello All!

I'm new here. I have read almost all the post related to the hiring process and idk if it makes me anxious or excited lol.

Here is my timeline for an Analyst position. Starting in 2018. I have no previous clearance.

5/31 Submitted application online
6/6 Requested Transcript and Resume
6/15 Emailed recruiter info and recruiter sent security papers to be completed and brought to the interview
6/18 Recruiter called and set up a interview
6/28 Had interview
7/23 Follow up email - Told me she was waiting on my interview notes
8/1 Called for screening
8/18 Received conditional offer!
8/20 Sent/received official transcripts

I will say it seems all situations are different.
My recruiter is awesome. Anytime I've reached out she responded immediately.

I pray all else goes well.

Patiently waiting for next steps!

Sorry if this is a question already covered on this thread, but what does "screening" mean? Is this your psych eval and full scope poly? Thanks.

No, during the screening the person called on a Sat to ask me questions abt stuff that was on my application. My job history and things of that nature. From what I read it seems this normally happens before the interview. But for me this was done after the interview but right before the CJO.

Just a quick poll;

How long after your interview did it take to receive your CJO?

Its been 3 to 6 weeks since I applied to multiple jobs, and I haven't heard a peep. All my applications still say "submitted", and I finished both the test and the pre-screening questionnaire. Have I been automatically filtered out, or is there still hope for me?

No, you have not been automatically filtered out, they would (probably?) notify you if that was the case. By pre-screening questionnaire do you mean the pre-screening phone call? Everything moves very slow with this hiring process, being impatient and focusing entirely on this hiring process will make you go crazy, so I suggest doing other things to keep you occupied in the mean time. For me, I applied late December 2017, ~4 weeks later I got an email about scheduling a pre-screening phone call (verifying some information), then mid March I had my operational interview (~1.5 months after pre-screening call), 7 days letter I got my CJO in the mail. I'll post my full timeline in a separate post when/if I get my FJO (cross my fingers that I pass my first poly), which will hopefully in a few weeks.

Hi all, I finally received word last week that my file has been updated (all stages completed), but do not know how long it takes for info to be posted or to circulate within the system, or what other internal processes need to happen. Such a mystery, all of this!

Looks like you're on your way to receive your FJO pretty soon! I read people hear back within 2-3 weeks with a FJO. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

I second this response. Maintain yourself occupied. Ive been waiting 1.5 years and counting and my recruiter doesn't even reply to my emails requesting status updates.

Congrats. Can you kindly post you complete timeline including your interview(s)? Also, did you take your drug test before or after your poly? I appreciate your feedback.

I've not been interviewed yet, but i'm going to do my best to get there. Gonna write this out though so I don't forget.

9/3/18 - Applied
9/11/18 - Resume/Unofficial Transcripts requested

Positive sign though from what I see.

Attending their Virtual Career Fair next week to see if I can speak to Recruiters. Applied for a noncompeting job, matching all their requirements and then some, and have family employed there. No foreign trips or contacts either..... hoping that I get a shot.

First of all, congrats! and second of all, (don't take this the wrong way), but I laugh when I see these types of timelines lol I applied months....wayyyyyyyyyyyyy earlier than you did and I haven't even met my BI for an interview. Frustrating. Aggravating.

It is different for everyone.

Another longtime lurker here :)

Heres my ongoing timeline for a few positions. No previous clearance.

2/18 - Applied Online
4/18 - Contacted by recruiters to schedule interviews
5/18 - Contacted by another recruiter to schedule interview
6/18 - Interviews Conducted
7/18 - More interviews conducted, notified by recruiters on decision of extending offers ( Within 2-3 weeks ) and brief pre-screen conducted to confirm personal details ( 5-10 mins ). Received Multiple CJOs.
8/18 - SF86 and contacted by security for more details

Currently waiting to get through BI and Suitability Process ( Poly, Psych, etc ). From what I've seen on the timelines of others, it seems like these procedures have been relatively fast and taken no more than 4 months to complete so hopefully mine won't either!

Heres a bit more info for those who are planning to apply but unsure whether they will be considered for desired roles and those who are in the hiring process and would like to compare a few small details which can be potential factors in elongating the overall process:

- I am a hyphenated American and a recent college grad ( undergrad, STEM related ) with some part time work experience ( tech ).
- I don't have many years of work experience nor have I worked many jobs
- I have never traveled overseas but have traveled within the Americas
- I have only moved once in recent years

Regarding interviews, from my experience, they have generally been behavioral and very few have been technical most likely due to my limited work experience. If you're on a similar boat I would suggest looking over your resume thoroughly and expanding on anything noteworthy that can put you a cut above other candidates. ( skills, projects, mindset, handling tasks, etc ). I would also recommend carefully reading the job description to be prepared for any possible technical questions to be asked relating to the position you're interviewing for.

I don't want to give out too many details so forgive me if this is generic but hopefully some of you find this information helpful! I will keep you all updated as I go further through the hiring process :)

Hi everyone! I'm new here but wanted to also jump in and share my timeline!

Mid 9/2017 Applied
Early 1/2018 Email received asking for updated resume
Late 1/2018 Call scheduling in person interview
Mid 2/2018 Interview (told i'd hear about a decision in next 2 weeks)
Early 6/2018 CJO
Early 7/2018 SF-86 received by them
Mid 8/2018 Met with BI and got a call to schedule poly/additional processing
Mid 9/2018 Poly/processing

And now I wait! I'm being hired into a development program. During my interview, I met with the 'project manager' of this position and they explained that they spend the whole year hiring for the program, and for it to begin in October. I haven't heard anything to confirm or deny starting in October, so I am hoping to hear back soon about the poly. I have a very unresponsive recruiter who never answers my emails, so fingers crossed I hear something in the next week or so. Good luck to everyone else and hope this helps!
