We've all seen the written examples of CSRS offset and Social Security, are they accurate? Did you numbers work out differently? How so?

Did you ever receive any feedback on this? I am also a CSRS Offset employee, planning to retire 3/31/2020. There are two ways to calculate the offset. The "easy" method would give me an offset of almost $250 per month. The more complex calculation gives me an offset of less than $10/month. Shared Services told me they cannot estimate this for me, Social Security told me they will calculate it when the Agency requests it when I retire. I am afraid the PO, or OPM, will take the easy calculation and I will be stuck

What was your experience?

Retired in Jan 2019. My offset was based on the more complicated calculation with numbers provided by social security and not the formula using (offset years/40). I had many years where I paid in social security outside of CSRS offset service. This worked out much better for me.
