I have retired as of December 31, 2018. My paperwork package has now gone to NFC for processing. I have 155 hours of annual leave that I will receive as a lump sum payment. Will the shutdown delay the processing of my lump sum payment to me?

If your agency is closed and employees are on furlough and therefore not getting paid, then you will not get paid for the last pay period you worked nor for your 155 hours of unused annual leave.

Are you saying that after the shutdown, I will not get the 155 hours of earned annual leave as a lump sum?

No, that is not being said or implied. What is being said that if your agency is on furlough due to the government shutdown, then employees at your agency will not get paid and retiring employees at this time will not get paid for unused annual leave hours. There has been no talk in Washington as to whether or not furloughed employees in affected agencies will or will not get paid retroactively for pay dates that were missed. This retroactive payment would also be for unused leave hours of retiring employees. So at this point no one knows what will happen - including the status of lump sum payments for unused annual leave hours of retiring employees.

I received my AL lump sum payment the first payday after I retired on 1/3/2019.
