Called the IC hires line to get put through to my recruiter and nobody is picking up. I know they responded to an email about a week ago. Anyone else having the same issue?

I havent been able to get ahold of my recruiter for a while, but I finally did today. I was told by my recruiter that due to privacy laws, recruiters cannot tell you if your BI has started, or even the status. All you can do is wait 4-6 months for it to be completed, and receive an email with dates for poly exam. Also, just to note, the government shut down does not effect the BI as well.

The more you know! I didn’t know about the privacy laws, but I knew they couldn’t tell me the status. I just wanted to see if they had gotten my transcripts in all actuality. Thanks! Quick question,
To the ones who have done their fingerprint, where you contacted by an external company? can you kindly share your experience? Thanks

Thanks My fingerprints were done at the site where my interview was performed. If it’s like when I applied the first time (over 8 years ago at this point), you have the chance to do them when you get your psych/poly done too. Thought I would post my hiring timeline since it seems to be quite different than most I see on here:
10/2017 - Applied 08/2018 - Operational Interview on Computer 01/2019 - Email Stating they will extend CJO after follow-up call with the recruiter.
It's been two weeks now since I received the email and am awaiting the follow-up call so I can receive the official CJO and start the BI paperwork.
My timeline is filled with lots of waiting and what seems to be a lot fewer steps than others have gone through based on what I see on this forum.
Nevertheless, should I reach out to my recruiter by phone to inquire why it has been two weeks since the email and no follow-up call yet?

Oh wow a year and a half is nuts just to get the interview and informal cjo. If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of position is it? I’d call your recruiter again and see what they have to say. I hope your post CJO processing goes more quickly. Edited by user Friday, January 18, 2019 12:34:11 PM(UTC)

11/17 - Applied 1/18 - Interview 1/18 - CJO 2/18 - Turned in SF86 4/18 - Met with investigator 9/18 - Emailed investigator with new job details, he said that he had finished investigation and sent it in for review and that it was "out of his hands" 1/19 - Recruiter said she was "Pending notification to schedule the Poly", whatever that means.
Getting antsy here

My poly was scheduled and I flew out. The government closed due to snow and I had to return home less than 12 hours later. I have not been rescheduled yet.

Don't get too antsy; the gap between meeting with the investigator has no set time table. My timeline looks like yours, but I've been in the "pending poly scheduling" for almost two years now. I've heard of it taking as little as three weeks and as long as 6 years. Best advice I've heard (but is obviously very difficult to follow) is to just try to forget that the whole thing is even happening. The watched pot never boils, and all that.

No clue about why there is such disparity between applications, but if I had to guess it would be CI checks for foreign nationals. No real clue though.

That's fair, but usually when I ask my recruiter for an update, she responds with the usual copy-and-paste response about me being in the suitability process which includes the background investigation, psych and poly, blah blah blah. But this time when I emailed her for an update, she said she was pending notification to schedule it and as soon as she receives notification, she'll reach out to security and have them call me to schedule it. That response made it seem like the poly being scheduled was going to happen sooner rather than later.
