Internal Revenue Service
As a bureau of the Department of the Treasury and as one of the world's most efficient tax administrators, the IRS role is to help the large majority of compliant taxpayers with the tax law, while ensuring that the minority who are unwilling to comply pay their fair share. (Source: www.irs.gov)

My Acting group manager told me yesterday that she was selected for the RO position on Dec 20th, the day before the shutdown. So maybe some of you were going to get calls on Dec 21st but the shutdown happened. Hopefully, once we get settled back in the calls will start coming. Good luck to you all that are still waiting to here if you were selected! |

Ok, just read an email from one of the big guys directly involved in hiring.
The service is still hiring the ROs, but they expect the on-boarding to be delayed.
Due to the shutdown, obviously they didn’t get OJIs traineed and interviews completed.
No time table was announced

hopefully someone can answer this:
In the event one gets picked for the R.O. position, are there designated locations that they do the training aside from your POD? I've been told to be prepared to travel to ANYWHERE in the U.S. If that's the case, how is that travel arranged? Can anyone provide any details?

The training location is based upon your POD. If flying is required the government pays for tge tickets. If you have a government credit card, you can use that for hotel and daily per diem. If you dont have a credit card you will be allowed to put in for a travel advance. For the most part everyone will probably stay at the same hotel.

Other people that got hired at the same time trained in Utah, Jacksonville, Tampa, Dallas and philly. If you’re offered a job you will be given information to obtain a govt Citibank card. You’ll put you airfare and hotel on that. You can also put your per dieum on it, but I don’t recommend that. But that’s your choice. I really enjoyed my training at KCMO. And you’ll form relationships with a lot of people that you’ll follow throughout your career. As to the training, I’ve been told they are doing it different. Apparently people do t like being away for a month at a time. Unit 1 and 2 training is very intense. Pay attention and listen to your instructors. Don’t ask a lot of stupid questions. The RO job is a great job. But you need to pay attention and take advantage of your training year and your OJI and instructors.

Arranging travel is done by yourself on an internal website called concur.
You’ll be walked through it by your OJI at orientation.

It looks like they may be looking at the GS-9s now. My status on usajobs changed to qualifications under review. I am external and only applied at the GS-9 level.

Maybe they forgot about me? Have you emailed or called HR? You should try it if you are still interested in the position.

I wouldn’t.
We just got back from a 35 day shutdown.
We are all trying to get caught up on track and we’re facing another shutdown.
They’ll probably just ignore you.

So everything from interview and hiring date is pushed back about 35days. Does that sound right?
