Can someone explain how the recent graduate works for veterans? Is it 6 years from the time you got the degree or 6 years from the time of the closing of the announcement? I’m confused

The Recent Graduates Program provides developmental experiences in the Federal Government. It is intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who, within the previous two years, graduated from qualifying educational institutions with an associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from qualifying educational institutions. To be eligible, applicants must apply within the previous two years of degree or certificate completion except for veterans precluded from doing so due to their military service obligation, who will have up to six years after degree or certificate completion to apply. For more information about Federal employment information for veterans, go to OPM's Feds Hire Vets (external link) website.

"except for veterans precluded from doing so (applying) due to their military service obligation, who will have up to six years after degree or certificate completion to apply."

The key is that one couldn't apply because military service obligations precluded it. It is not just because one is a veteran.

CBP told me that I didn’t qualify for this job OFO-Recentgrad-10410894-KDL because I got out of the military on 11/11 but I got my degree on 5/14

Also this job is open to vets how is it possible that CBP says that I don’t qualify as a recent grad or a vet when I am a CSP VET?

Who do I talk to ?

CBP said that I don’t qualify for this job OFO-Recentgrad-10410894-KDL as a recent grad

So if as a recent grad I don’t qualify I should still qualify as a veteran since it was opened for both ...

Nope, super tempted to call HR but I know that won't do much. They'll be ready when they're ready, hopefully within the the next week or two based on the given timeframe of 6-8weeks awhile back.

UPDATE*******

So I contact HR and asked the following:

Since I passed they could share this:

Over 400 people applied to the announcement
D-DC-19-10381810-DE-ADD

Only 108 that is the amount of people that passed the proctored test.. apparently HR specialists are currently reviewing resumes and if we pass that they will create a package that has to get signed by a supervisor after that it will go to OPM then it will go to the nearest DEA field office to set up for interviews. So we should not expect to hear anything for the next 2 to 3 months.

Good luck to y’all please update if you hear anything
