I have seen variations of this question, but not my exact question, so I wanted to ask the field. I was medically retired this year, but my VA Disability pay was higher, so I receive that pay. I have all the entitlements, specifically TRICARE, of a retiree, but do not receive “military retirement pay.” Can I buyback my 9 years of Service under FERS and still receive my disability pay? Additionally, if I buyback my time, is there any unforeseen detriment?

Yes, you can still buyback your time. And you will keep your retirement benefits. I was in the exact same boat 3 years ago and i just finished paying off my military deposit with 0 interest.
