Doesn't matter... It's completely case by case... I've been with the civilian federal government for just under six years... I applied in June/July or 2018 and got a preference sheet in June of this year... I would have been in the July 2019 academy had my HR dep. here not turned away my background investigator at the beginning of June... The highest clearance I've held was a secret with the Army... There are people from the 2017 announcement that are still waiting to get a preference sheet... I'm not saying any of this to brag or boast, just to let everyone know that it is completely case by case... Just because you currently have a TS clearance and are a LEO, it doesn't put you above or below anyone else... The timelines on here are good for just putting our minds at ease a bit, but you could get on with them potentially as quick as like 6-8 months all the way up to 2-3 years... Just remember to always get back to them as fast as possible... Never make them wait for you, you always want to wait for them...

I’m a June 2018 applicant and FED employee for many years. I sent in reference sheet for accelerated interim clearance in April and references were checked early May, but I’m still waiting on completed BI, hiring panel approval and preference sheet. This week one of my employer references was called again. Not sure if this is normal but proves each case is different. Hope to get in the next class whenever it is.

Has anyone on here already held a TS clearance while going through the DEA process and if so what was the process like did they do an update, or take what you already had,or did they do a new BI?
I just took the drug screen and am a current DOJ employee with a TS that cleared only two years ago. Thanks!

Just scheduled my written exam. Any advice from those who've already taken it?

Just scheduled mine as well. Not sure how long all this takes, but it seemed quick from announcement closing to the email asking to take the Proctored exam.

Good luck to you both! Always keep in mind the usual advice, ie. a good night's sleep, a little bit of food and water before hand for a clear head and a partially fill stomach, and positive thoughts. Also focus o the skills they're going to test you on. You'll both do great!

I completed (and passed) my DEA DI Assessment in October 2018 for a previous vacancy announcement.

Today I received an email to schedule my DEA DI Assessment for a recent vacancy.

Are the assessment scores (or interviews) valid for certain period of time?

Thanks.

Keep an eye on the time limits. I lost track during my writing portion and had a nice scare when I didn't know if it accepted what I wrote before the time ran out.

Was just offered to test for that most recent opening. I withdrew my application instead, just accepted an offer under DHS and will be transferring from my current agency in a few weeks.

Same. Make sure you press the submit button on the writing portion! The multiple choice didn’t take the entire time for me, but the writing sample did and the screen timed out on me. Thankfully my writing sample saved and submitted Bc there is no getting back on once it closes out.

Yeah, and then I didn't hear anything at all for almost 6 months until I got an email for the interview a few days ago. I was assuming I had failed since I didn't click submit on the writing sample, but I guess it was good since I'm interviewing Thursday.

January 2019 recent grad announcement here. Just got home from my interview, and overall I'll say it was a pretty great experience. I've been through some interviews that felt like interrogations, but everyone on the panel made me feel really comfortable and relaxed.

Now I guess I'm back to the waiting game for a few months.

I disqualified because of my degree completion even though I passed the test so now I’m waiting on this recent open to the public announcement that closes on 6/19

Still nothing on my side either. Just awaiting our next steps. The fiance is getting a bit impatient, but that's more for being able to place the payment on the wedding costs. Everything being a bit in the air is getting her a tiny bit worked up. She likes planned items.

How long does the proctored test take to complete? The email says we get 210 minutes but I didn’t know what the average was or what some of you did it in.
