I was a federal firefighter, working at NAS Oceana when I tore my ACL on duty in 2001. I went through the whole OWCP process and was given 7% disability and got a scheduled award. I now work for a local FD in Florida (since 2005). My knee has gotten worse, to the point I most likely need a partial knee replacement due to arthritis and my meniscus being almost gone. Since this is a result of that original injury, who would pay for the surgery/time missed etc etc etc. Quite the conundrum.

Also, I'm pretty sure that my original scheduled award was paid as single, even though I was (am) married with kids at the time. Anyone know if there's a time limit on getting paid correctly?

Ideally you arent supposed to close your claim and should have been seeing the doctor at least twice a year just for status updates and to keep your claim open.
