Fed Ex decided to drop delivery of Amazon because they decided they just weren’t making any money off of them. Postal management insists we are making a profit off of our agreement. I’d like to see an official outside audit done of this, because I am skeptical we really are. I’ve seen postal management fudge so many numbers over the years I just don’t believe what they say.

I'm sure the postal justification that we "make money" off of Amazon parcels, is similar to the wonderful DOIS idea that the amount of DPS doesn't change your estimated time to deliver the route. Years ago, when I was just starting, and therefore felt the need to make points, I asked a supervisor (actually the station manager) why my estimated delivery time didn't change much the day after a Monday holiday, when my DPS was in the 5000 - 6000 range. He said, "We just assume that you'll suck it up and work faster."

So, with regard to Amazon, the postal bean counters' logic would be that we already go there, so no matter how little we charge, IT'S ALL PROFIT.

Brilliant!!

We just had one of those mandatory overtime days where instead of getting out early a truck from Amazon was coming. So with maybe three pieces a route, along with the Amazon guy dropping off pallets for another district the entire station was kicked into penalty overtime. The kicker was that i was the first guy back strong enough to carry the team lift stuff so braving rush hour traffic got an additional hour of penalty overtime for two pieces.

It is always the last one those two pieces and my pay alone knocked out any gain or possible gain from Amazon

Looks like we're not the only schnooks that throw parcels over the wall.
