Silly question- how formal is the PSI? Not planning on wearing torn jeans and dirty sneakers or a suit. Just curious how casual I can get away with. |

It's still a professional meeting, so I wore business casual. The agent conducting the interview was wearing a tie, though no sport coat, so I felt like I chose appropriately. YMMV |

I wore a suit/tie for both PSI and poly (both were the same day). Just got word that an investigator stopped by my most recent employer... So things are still moving along. No update on my applicant profile, still shows the same processing date. My employment situation has drastically changed, however. Just got a new job which means joining the FBI would result in a 66%+ paycut (before it would have been a 5% raise) and I definitely want to be assigned to a large(ish) city like DC, SF, NYC, LA, Seattle (aka high COL). More factors to consider now..

Is anyone else in March class? long time lurker. Had phase III with the Arizona group. PSI and poly in late August. So background took around 6 months.

This is exciting to hear that people are already getting notice of being in the March class! I also interviewed in Arizona and had my poly in September. So fingers crossed! But 6 months is definitely on the short side from many other timelines I've seen.

I interviewed in Arizona also and had my polygraph early September. It seems like 6 months is the common timeframe to receive a final offer and fingers are definitely crossed to hear something relatively "soon" lol. Exciting to hear people are getting placed in classes.

Yes my background was very short. My investigator called on early September for information, my previous jobs were interviewed in other cities that following week by a second investigator, and by the first week of October he was at my current job, which he said he would do last. For what it’s worth, I’ve lived and worked in a few cities and moved apartments just about every year. I found out I passed background when I was invited to the March class. He contacted me almost every day in September and after interviewing my current job in October, no contact. So I assume I’ve actually been done for quite some time.

I've been in BI since June and I know my references started getting contacted in early July. Haven't heard anything in months and my last FBI jobs portal date change was 10/15. I'm processing out of Boston. |

I also was in the Phoenix phase 3 group. Due to my cross-country move there were some parts of the process that were delayed for me. My first contact with an investigator was in December, and that was a man tasked with talking to my prior employer (different state from where I am currently). That same day an investigator in my current location was talking to my neighbors. Just yesterday one of my contacts (not family, in yet another state) was contacted. No family has been contacted yet, and none of my other contacts have mentioned talking with an investigator. If I am favorably adjudicated, then I don't expect to have a class date until July or even September. If anyone else ends up with a timeline like mine it'd be nice to put a face to a screen name at Quantico!

My processing date changed on 1/25..! Not sure what to make of it. I've been snooping around and it seems like the reason for it changing differs from person to person. Can anyone weigh in on what happened once their processing date changed while they were in the security component?

Don't know if anyone else has seen it yet, but they've posted the all candidates opening for IAs again. It's kind of interesting because it's a very short window and it says they're only taking ~1000 applications.

It definitely wasn't. Because under this new specialized experience I would qualify for GS9 for sure. I wonder if they will take that into account on a final offer? Also looks like the lowest pay for a GS7 went up a bit too. Anyone with a final offer care to say whether their final was exactly what their conditional offer was?

Just got the thin letter in the mail for a suitability denial. A bit bummed out, honestly. Going to be filing an FOIA/PA request to see if I can find out what happened. As far as I can tell, nothing in my background is out of the ordinary besides foreign travel (nowhere hostile to the US) but we'll see. Don't think it had to do with my poly either as my background was completely wrapped up to my knowledge..
Good luck to everyone else who's still in it!

Good luck to everyone else who's still in it! I'm sorry that happened, and I know that stings...hopefully you didn't quit your day job. "Out of the ordinary" for you is likely very different then "out of the ordinary" for the FBI. Perhaps you've had too many speeding tickets? Perhaps a former employer said you were a lousy employee? Perhaps they believe that you either drink too much, or used to drink too much? Perhaps you have an unusual fascination with spy movies that concerns them? Who knows, and more importantly, who cares? Don't dwell on it. Seriously - do not dwell on it. Be glad that you went through the experience and learned a lot about yourself in the process. And you didn't fail the polygraph. If you failed the polygraph, then they'd send you a letter very shortly thereafter that would outright tell you that you failed the polygraph and were banned for life from FBI employment. Cowboys11, I'm confused, I saw you posting in the Special Agent thread as well. Are you going in for IA or SA? If SA, might explain your quick BI.

My portal had an update today but I’m still in the “investigation in process” classification. Anybody else get an update? Any idea what this could mean? |

It could be a number of things. I previously had mine update when my AC realized they forgot to get my prints and she called me to schedule that. Lolniceone recently had an update followed by receipt of a denial letter. I believe others have received notification of favorable adjudication after a date change. It could be that some other input caused the change. It would just be speculation to say what it means, but do let us know when you find out!
