As a bureau of the Department of the Treasury and as one of the world's most efficient tax administrators, the IRS role is to help the large majority of compliant taxpayers with the tax law, while ensuring that the minority who are unwilling to comply pay their fair share. (Source: www.irs.gov)

I applied back in November and took the Online Simulation at the end of December. Today, I received an email stating I meet the minimum qualifications and will receive another email within the week to schedule a time to complete the IRS Special Agent Knowledge and Skills Exam (SA KaSE) and Special Agent Writing Sample Test. Just like nearly everyone else who has applied and made it this far, I’m curious if there is any known study material one can look at to be as prepared as possible. Does anyone have any insight they would feel comfortable passing along?

I got notified tonight that I am invited to take the proctored exam.

But I took it 18 months ago and scored cat A so the email also said I don’t have to take it again.

Not really. I studied my old GMAT book to refresh my math and reading skills. I’m not even sure if it helped in the end but I also didn’t want to go in blind.

I bought an old TEA exam book. It was like take my cash and lighting it on fire 🔥

When I took the proctored exam last summer, there were several locations around me. One was a dedicated testing center in a little strip mall, and a few community college computer labs.

There's really no great study material and it's not worth fretting over or studying for. I went in blind and took it, scored in the top category. You'll either pass it, or you won't.

I will be getting the same email soon, however I am not sure what category I fell under. Initially I was "highly qualified" and not referred to the selecting official, however it later changed and I was referred. Is there a contact who can definitively tell me what category I fell under last year?

They’re are independent sites.

When/if you get an invitation there will be a section to pick a proctor site

"This age restriction does not apply to those who have previously served in a Federal civilian (not military) law enforcement position covered by Title 5 U.S.C. Section 8336 (c) provisions and preference eligible veterans."

Scotty, maybe second time is a charm.

It also doesn’t apply to CPS veterans.

But we shall see.

Doesn’t matter. I do like my current IRS Job

I recommend looking at basic accounting. Acid ratio, job costing, etc.

I was Cat A last time and received an invite as well. Looks like some follow up will be necessary as this is contradictory to the email received several days earlier.

If anyone hears anything, let us know. I am in same Boat. I tend to do worst on tests the second time around.
