Congrats and good luck. Do you know approximately when your credit was pulled and references were contacted?

FWIW, I think timelines are greatly sped up since Rhadamanthus and others applied in 2018. I say this anecdotally and from looking at timelines of people posted here over the last several years.

I applied in August and received a CJO in December. The biggest gaps in my timeline compared to Rhad's are the Phase II Writing/Interview (I interviewed less than a month after taking written), and the steps of the background portion. From PFT to completing polygraph was 2 months. I have flexible hours though so I can snatch up an appointment at a moment's notice. 5 months from PSI to poly just seems downright silly.

I know a girl that did her PFT the same day I did back in June and got in the January class. Definitely seems like they're trying to speed up backgrounds.

CONGRATULATIONS by the way! Good luck in Quantico.

The one in December was a few days after being told by email that my BI was complete. My guess is that the status change is HQ’s receipt of the packet. Nothing changed on the title.

Then January it changed to “pre-quantico.”

That was an anomaly because the office didn’t have a polygrapher and the polygrapher in the office across the river had their own applicants to deal with.

Another gap I had was between the writing assessment and the interview because I wasn’t available to do it when first invited due to military commitments. Similar commitment prevented me from attending the January class.

I don’t know when my credit was pulled but they began contacting my references in early October.

Thanks for clarifying that. In 11/2019 I was contacted to see if I could attend in January. I took my pre-q pt test and passed. After I passed my status changed to “Sa pre Quantico.” But then I never got a final offer. I didn’t get invited to the January class as I had anticipated and I didn’t get a final offer for March. I’m unsure as to where the hold up is. My processing office is big and I was never told I was adjudicated. In fact my AC said she is not informed of that information.

Official notice was less than a week later when I got a call to set up the schedule for the medical. I only received the call for medical though because the next open appointment was a week away and the only one available after that was a month away. You can try checking your credit to see if FBI pulled it, that's a sign you've passed, but my credit didn't get pulled until ~2.5 weeks after I passed.

I never got 100% confirmation I passed mine. The polygrapher said it should be good, but that it's not his call.

The only way I figured I passed was a few months later my AC emailed asking that if my background clears, could I attend the September class.

Hell, the only way I knew my background had actually started was my wife got a phone call interview one day. Then the next week old bosses, coworkers, landlords, etc. But took my poly early July and they started getting contacted in December.

So don't give up quite yet!!

Does it seem like they're mostly doing phone interviews now rather than in-person? I was told of agents going door to door in neighborhoods you lived in etc to canvas people. That was told to me by much older agents long retired though so I'm sure things have slightly changed. I could see in person interviews obviously taking much longer and one of the first things to go in an effort to speed up BI

Nine of mine were done in-person so far and two were done over the phone. I think it just depends where you are and who is working your BI.

Only one of my references was ever contacted, that I know of -- I was never interviewed, neither in-person nor over the phone, outside of my PSI.

Here's my overall timeline:

October 2018 - Applied
October 2018 - Phase I
November 2018 - M&G
January 2019 - Phase II Written (immediately out of country for about a month, missed two P2 boards)
March 2019 - Phase II Interview (maybe a week later notified of passing)
April 2019 - PFT, conditional offer within a day or two
June 2019 - Poly (inconclusive)
July 2019 - Poly (pass), scheduled for medical the next week
January 2020 - Pre-Q PFT/adjudicated
February 2020 - Final Offer
March 2020 - Quantico

Days, not even a week. I think I e-mailed my AC a couple of days later and they said I was inconclusive and would have to wait for a second examination. The examiner had indicated to me I was likely an inconclusive at the end of the exam itself.

I am an IA applicant. An investigator actually did come to my home in December. He asked me a few questions and talked to my neighbor, and also wanted to know who else around my area might know who I am (my spouse is active duty military and we are new to the installation). I had one person listed on my SF86 in a completely different state (not where I am now or where we just moved from) also get contacted in person within the last couple of weeks. My previous employer also got an in-person visit.

It's not entirely out of the ordinary for them not to tell you that you passed the poly at all, so "2 weeks" with "no word" actually bodes well for you. Also, if you failed the poly, then the examiner would tell you. They may not have said, "you failed," but they would almost certainly have asked you a bunch of follow-up questions, such as "I see that you showed some sensitivity on the matter of illegal narcotics usage. Perhaps you took a friend's prescription pain killer? I see this all the time..." If you finished the test and he said, "looks good," or something to that effect, then you didn't fail.

Monitor your credit. If they FBI checked/checks your credit, then you most likely passed.
