A new round of Phase II interview invites just went out for May 4-7 (to replace my early April interview which was canceled). Looks like they're planning for things to get back to normal sooner rather than later.

Yeah I dont know, I've never been through anything like this so I didnt know what to expect. About 20 questions just didn't seem like a lot but I told the truth on all of them so I guess that's all I can focus on for now.

I don't know how many "blocks" they typically administer, but I believe it is more than two. That is to say if a block consists of an arm band inflation, followed by a series of questions, and then a deflation. So you only experienced two inflations? You probably did fine, but a word of caution: they won't cut it short simply because you're spiking on questions. That is, after all, the entire point of the test - to collect information on your physiological responses to certain questions. It wouldn't make any sense for them to stop the test prematurely if they're getting data.

BUT...they will cut the test short if they think you're using coutermeasures. I'm not familiar with polygraph countermeasures, but the FBI polygraphers are. They're probably not that hard to detect. I'm not entirely sure that they'd confront you with their suspicions, either. I guess it depends. If you went in there and utilized some open and obvious countermeasure, then I suspect that he wouldn't even bother apprising you of that - he'd just end the test and send you on your way. On the other hand, if you were doing that, I wouldn't expect him to go through two whole blocks of questions. So, I think you're probably fine.

Thank you very much for response. I experienced 6 inflations (a set of ~10 questions were asked 3 times (deflate/inflate in between each set of 10), and then a separate unique set of 10 questions three times). I guess I feel better about it now. And I'm not familiar with countermeasures either but that makes sense.

It sounds to me like you got the full polygraph treatment - the FBI's isn't very long. Plus, absolutely no concerns voiced by the polygrapher? Just "I'll send it up to DC, have a nice day[?]." It sounds to me like you passed.

For what location? Yesterday invites went out to Miami, FL for May 11-14th. I was originally scheduled for end of March for phase 2 but was canceled.

Not great news, sorry to hear this. I was told they cancelled a class that was 10 weeks in and one that was 4 weeks in. Would be frustrating if you just left steady employment. Will be interesting to see how each class resumes when things return to some semblance of normal.

Wow, that is terrible for those who were that far in. So now they aren’t being paid or covered medically? Definitely frustrating.

Students who started BFTC and were sent home are still being paid (I'm like 98% sure). Those who were about halfway in will resume where they left off. Those that just started at the beginning of the month will start the program over. They plan on coming back in about 8 weeks. Yeah, it sucks, but it will be okay.

As for those waiting to hear from their AC, it depends on what office they are out of for if they are teleworking or not. This may give them extra time to devote to applicants, or applicants may be put on the back burner. Try to focus on something else. The anxiety will drive you more crazy than this gosh darn pandemic.

For everyone's situational awareness, and probably comes as no surprise since the two current classes were cancelled/paused, May 10th BFTC is officially cancelled/postponed until a later date.

Virginia just issued 'Stay at home' order until June 10th. Wonder if that will effect next class to be pushed back even farther than June then....

Very whack. Hopefully it sends sooner than that. My year deadline for the PFT is on June 4th.

In theory the PFT is pretty easy to train for in these circumstances because you don’t need any equipment. It can be challenging to find the discipline to train at home if you were used to having a gym routine though.
I’ve been upping my mileage and just continuing with bodyweight workouts. Check out the “100 push up challenge,” on the internet for reps and sets if you’re goal oriented that way. Theirs also an equivalent for situps out there.

I’ve heard some PFTs are still a go and some are cancelled. Any definitive word on the status of PFTs? I’m in a holding pattern between written and interview on Phase 2, would feel better with some type of timeline, but I understand the circumstances were facing.

Well there's no excuse for us not to have time to get out and run now lol. I've been running 2-3 miles per day M-F and doing pushups, abs, jump ropes, etc. Lots of good Quarantine workouts on the internet.

I’ve been using my sand bag a lot from Brute Force Gear. I use it for running, sit-ups, push-ups, etc. I guess I’m thinking that training with the extra weight will help with the actual PFT once the weight is removed. Is anyone else using this with good results? I’m planning on doing a weekly PFT without weight to see if my numbers are improving each week at a good pace.
