And if you live on a different city than him/her definitely not. City to city travel is outlawed right now.

Won’t happen regardless.
Technically the GM can come inspect your telework location, they have to give you 24 hour notice.
And unless you’re a complete scrub of an RO they have better things to do.

And unless you’re a complete scrub of an RO they have better things to do. I was trying for levity. Part of the telework agreement states they can drop in with 24 hours' notice. I'm poking fun at the abysmal "working conditions". I got through training, I guess I can't be too much of a scrub. In addition to the informational aspect of this forum, sadly, it is also one of my few social outlets. A little levity is not a bad thing. :) |
Don't let yesterday take up too much of today. |

Heard that wave 2 will have Unit 4 training March of 2021 in person. That's a ways away but shows you how much COVID-19 has affected training along with how important they believe in person training is.

He is set to interview in the next 3 weeks. He didn’t know the EOD but I would think it would be next year. So they’ll have to do some in person training. Also, they have a bunch of ROs in the pipeline that were hired right before evacuations. My understanding is they are taking a bunch of ELMS classes.

Any talk in your areas of when we’ll be able to go back in the field? I’m in the Northeast and there’s been no word on when we’ll be able to go in the field again. I’m guessing not until at least Sept/Oct and it will be appointments only instead of our usual cold calls. I don’t know about you guys but I miss the field the most. I also think the 7/15 date for resuming enforcement will be pushed back.

Pyramiding TPs, assets being put out of reach of the Govt. ETC. I really doubt field work will go back to normal before the end of the year.

My manager said it is very fluid right now as well so the current memo we will have starting July 16th which has guidance on field work might still change. With COVID-19 on the rise, I think management might change the guidance at a moments notice. However, it did state we can go into the field with cases with exigent circumstances and approval by our TM. Don't know how many cases that will be. Guess it depends on your cases and how the TM feels. I know also we need to be mindful about COVID-19 as well when we request to go out in the field at the TP's property.

I wrote my post right before we got that guidance. I think it will really need to be special circumstances for us to get approved to go in the field. I think it will be tough going back to taking enforcement without the ability to go into the field or POD often. If we’re not going to the POD often to check for payments, appeals, or documents we request from the TP then how do we know it’s ok to send a levy? I figure I’ll go in once every 2-3 weeks to check mail and then save all my levies until then.
The guidance is good and says we can use discretion but I don’t know how much of a break or how long we’ll be able to give people a break for COVID-related effects on their business or income. I think we should be lenient where appropriate. I just don’t want to get a negative case review because I didn’t take enforcement when they feel it was warranted.

I have not heard anything, but it's good LexusFan heard something good about hiring. The IRS definitely needs more Revenue Officers. All I have seen are hiring for 12's and 13's but a open roster for 7 and 9 again is needed. I know they are looking to do unit 4 for the August 2019 new hires in March of 2020 and they have another group that started in March of 2020 so there definitely is still a need.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate that. I interviewed back in 2009 for a RO position and I’d like to give it another shot. I’ve been working for a tax agency with the State of California for over 7 years now in collections. Keep the information coming! In the meantime, I applied for a Individual Taxpayer Advisory Specialist. Edited by user Wednesday, August 26, 2020 6:28:25 PM(UTC)

Nothing officially. Everything so far word of mouth that a new hiring round will be pushed through. Stuff is going on behind the scenes for recruitment.
