I was previously a GS12, step 2. I accepted a new offer for a job series in which I was only qualified at the GS7 level, so I am now a GS7, step 10. This is a 7-9-11-12 ladder position. My question, does my previous GS12 salary have any impact on my future steps as I earn grades, or is it simply the two step rule, based on my current salary? I have received conflicting information. Thanks!

The people who are telling you that your previous GS12 salary would affect current raises, have they cited any policy or regulation?
Because from my limited understanding of the topic, you are a GS7/10 now and that other salary no longer has any affect on future raises in your current job. |
