I retired July 31st and still haven't received my annual leave payout.

Is it unusual for it to take almost 4 weeks?

I have a phone number to call but it was recommended to wait a 30 days.

I just to want to fall in between the cracks on this.

Thanks

Sorry, you'll have to wait.
They're busy calculating my retroactive back pay.
That's priority one :)

This comes from Ed Zurndorfer (pretty much the go-to-guy for these things):

"The normal amount of time it takes for a retired or departed employee to receive payment for unused annual leave (direct deposit into the same bank account the employee receives direct deposit of his or her paychecks) is within four weeks of the employee's retirement or departure date."

I'm supposed to get that retroactive back pay as well. Try waiting until you're in retirement and hope OPM does the right thing in getting it to me.

I feel a little bit like I'm in No Man's Land.

Don't have HRSSC to call and OPM hasn't even assigned someone to my case yet.

But as long as you're taking care of first that gives me great comfort.

Hahahahaha 🤣

I think with the PO it's SOP for your last check to be a paper check, it's probably sitting in your former supervisors desk drawer.

Hi Hoosier,

I know that's how it used to be but everyone who left before me, there were six of us and I was the last of the six, all recieved it direct deposit.

I'll call the PO and ask though...it couldn't hurt.

Thank you.

A month after I retired got call from tour 2 supervisor to come and pick up check. Timed it for weekly standup (the 10 of us + supervisor always took turns bringing food, sat eating and passed around the sign-in sheet and then bull$hitted for 30 minutes). I brought a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts for them, ate a slice of pizza then picked up the check.

How long ago was that TaiTai?

If my check is there, I like your idea, don't show up empty handed.

Bring something for the clerks.

Thank you.

Update...

Called on 09/03/2020 and inquired again this time with the assurance AL payout was getting escalated to Tier 2.

Then on 09/09/2020 I got an email..

The Tier 2 Accounting Service Center Branch representative provided the following information as a resolution:

Summary:

Payroll- terminal leave - separated 07/31/20
Notes:

Calling about terminal leave pay separated 07/31/20 would like to know why it has not been issued.

Resolution:

I Spoke with his supervisor and gave him the information Gordon's Terminal leave is already processed and Terminal leave will released in PP19/2020 pay day.

=================

So payday on 09/18/2020 is when I'm suppose to get paid.

Seven weeks after leaving.

I have a question.

The comment from the Tier 2 accounting rep. reads "I spoke with his supervisor". What could that possibly have to do with my AL payout?

Thanks.

I know two people who retired on July 31, 2020, one from the Postal Service, and both of them received their annual leave payment on the PP18 pay date. I have no idea why your supervisor would need to be contacted.

Finally... seven weeks to the day they finally paid me my AL.

Taxes took a third.

Ouch.
