Doing alright I suppose. No new update on my end though, 30 months in. Hope all is well with you. Originally Posted by: Dune As our thread is in danger of falling off the front page, I just wanted to drop in to see how everyone is doing.

Hey everyone!
I haven't posted publicly before, but I've been following this forum and waiting patiently right alongside all of you for the last two years. Just wanted to finally introduce myself and be more than a lurker, especially if some of us end up in class together :)
I'm glad to see that some of you are receiving invitations for Q in December! I have not had a date change in almost 11 months, but have my fingers crossed every day for the good news. I figured I'd post up my timeline for reference in case it's helpful for anyone. Has anyone gotten word on when the next class will be? March maybe? Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe, healthy, and happy!

Given how quiet the thread has been, it seems like a lot of us are stuck in different holding patterns and waiting for something to happen... I passed Phase I and a Phase II in 2016! Then discontinued due to “prescreening”. Reapplied in the 2018 cycle and passed Phase 3 a year ago. Now waiting on adjudication. Had a date change in early August but nothing since. Hang in there!

What's the general consensus on contacting your AC for an update? My references were contacted in May and it's been radio silent since. I know being patient is key in this process....but after that two year mark it gets really hard not to ask for an update. |

To put it into perspective, the shortest background investigations for IA applicants take six months. If your references were contacted in May, it's unlikely your background will conclude before November. My own background took over eight months, and it's not unusual to hear of longer ones. And that's without a pandemic impeding things. It's a super long process, and that can be discouraging at times. But you've made it this far, and you are in good company here. I'd say don't contact anyone until you've been in background a year, but hopefully yours will be done long before then! |

Congrats to all who got the invite! Can’t wait to meet you guys in December.
I’m sure we all know the same amount, but I’m assuming we’ll stay there through the holiday period? And does anyone know if they are still planning to do the 2 week quarantine when we get there?
Wasn’t sure if anyone has talked to someone / knows someone in the know.

Re: Monthly "Active" emails
Hi - I've been in background check for a year. Last June I was reading this forum and for the first time saw posters mention getting "You're Still Active" emails every three weeks. I had never gotten one before at all. So I followed advice here and changed my preferred contact method to email instead of no preference on my profile. A few days later I got an "Active" email, as well as an email that was like a newsletter. Even though they said I'd be getting these every three weeks, I never got another ever again.
Has that happened to anyone else? Today I changed my contact method back to no preference, and then back to email to see if that would spur receiving another Active email.
Thanks

I should specify, that’s 30 months in background haha. I’m from the 2017 posting. But I hear you, just tough! Positive thoughts for sure though. Hopefully things will end on a positive note for us both in the near future. Good luck! Originally Posted by: Gnocchi16 Originally Posted by: BlackMambaIC Doing alright I suppose. App: 10/14/18 PSI: 05/08/19 Poly: 06/26/19 BI: 9/01/19 I have kept tabs on these emails. I previously described how to find what week of background those emails say you are on. For me, those emails continued through the week 54 email. After that they continued, but they looked different and there was no link to a survey (which is where the week number of your background would have appeared). The last one I received would have been week 57, and I am due for another in the next couple of days. I am aware that many prefer not to contact their AC because they don't want to be a bother, but I'd say if you haven't already, contact that person and see if they have an update for you - especially if you haven't spoken to them in a while. Be friendly and just let them know you wanted to make sure they don't need anything from you. I don't feel there is anything wrong with checking in as long as you are cordial.

I don’t know about general consensus, but having been one of the few individuals with a REALLY long wait time for background processing, I would recommend reaching out every month after you hit the one year mark from the start of the investigation. I let months and months go by without reaching out, based off recommendations to not reach out at all, and that got me nowhere. Being patient is definitely key, but so is reminding them how badly you want this job by continuing to check on it. Just my opinion though. Had a date change yesterday, fingers crossed for good news soon! Seems like the date change in the portal has varying meanings, but from what I've gathered...most of the time it means you hear something soon? |

I think the consensus is that it isn't typically a "bad" thing (though there was one case where someone got dropped from the process shortly after getting a change), but it also doesn't mean that you're about to hear anything "good" soon either. As I said in my previous post, a date change gives you an opportunity to reach out to your AC, but do not expect them to be able to tell you anything about it. I've had three date changes over the past year and I'm still waiting for the "good" word to come my way. I did yesterday and got the expected "I cannot provide any updates" email. If I can wait two years, I can wait a little longer lol I'm sorry to hear that, hopefully you hear something soon as well. You're also from the 2018 app right? I popped over to the SA 2020 forum and saw some questions about the ACTIVE emails. For those are you receiving them, have you gotten one since July? I’ve received 3 emails since then, but they’re not the specific emails stating I’m active. |

I’ve received 3 emails since then, but they’re not the specific emails stating I’m active. I am more than a year into my background. I received a standard-looking active e-mail (meaning the header listed that I am active and said I could view the applicant tracker for more info) around the middle-to-end of July. Typically my e-mails came exactly every 21 days, but the last few I did get varied slightly, coming a couple of days later, but never earlier. I would estimate that 2 e-mails after my July one looked different (no header with status listed), and it has now been about a month since I received the last one. I have been able to keep in contact with an AC, so I am not worried about issues with my application at this point, although I will be honest that the length of the process is a little frustrating. Also, I have had no date change in my portal, and it still shows I am in the security component.

Yes, mine seemed to change to a different type of email since about the same time. They still come every 3 weeks, but they are definitely different and not the “you are active” emails. I have no idea what that means, but I did have a date change around the first week of August.

Anyone heard anything after the December class email yet? Just wondering how long it'll be before we hear more details. December will be here before we know it! Edited by user Wednesday, September 30, 2020 7:01:19 PM(UTC)

HR said it would be a "few weeks," so I'm not anticipating anything until at least a couple weeks from now. :P I started following the Life at Quantico Vol. 2 thread, though, which has been pretty interesting. Btw, does anyone know who deleted a bunch of posts in this thread? We were at page 50 but now it's only at 46. How curious. |
