If someone takes early retirement at age 50, can he/she enroll in family coverage (for spouse and children)? Particularly for children.
Thanks.

Thanks. Yes, assuming they meet the eligibility requirements: Effect of Early Retirement on Benefits
Health Benefits: Employees retiring in conjunction with a VERA or Voluntary Separation Incentive Payment (VSIP) authority must have been covered under the FEHB Program (1) for the last 5 years of their Federal civilian service in order to continue such coverage in retirement, or (2) if less than 5 years, for all service since the employee was eligible for these benefits unless these requirements are waived.
Coverage as an annuitant is identical to coverage as an employee, but premiums are not paid on a pre-tax basis. It's treated the same as any other immediate retirement. https://www.opm.gov/poli...ly-retirement-authority/

Thanks. Not if your children are like in their 30s. I would imagine it follows the same age rules as active employees?
