I disagree. Compare our removal procedures( government in general) to literally anything else. Even other unionized operations. It’s why we have the image we do...government workers, bad employees, corruption, laziness, etc. UPS is unionized yet they can easily remove bad employees. But unfortunately, here? We have the typical gooberment stereotype. I’m really hoping the PMG can streamline this and put us on par with literally everyone else. Get rid of the bad apples.

I would tell you the problems with the system we use for discipline is that new management don't receive in depth training prior to being selected for a management position. USPS selects people for positions in management without any knowledge of previous performance. So what happens? New supervisors go into positions and have to follow the lead of Post Masters who were brought along the same way. And if they don't have a good understanding of the ELM, craft contracts, local agreements, and other policies, then they are going to make mistakes. The fix for this is training! Just like on the craft side of the house, better training at all levels instead of just rushing people into positions. Then if they can't complete the training, then they don't take the position.

The next problem with our discipline system, is too many rush to use it as the first action. Progressive discipline is just that progressive, you can't go straight to dismissal in most cases and shouldn't go to an investigative interview right away. There should be discussions with employees before moving to any thought of discipline.

And the next part is the mind set of employees themselves. Too often employees don't care if they violate rules, because the first thought in there mind is not " oh I screwed up", it is "well my steward will find a way to get me out of trouble".

The blame goes to everyone not just craft, management, or the unions...

Everything you said is spot on.

Most new supervisors are people that felt their craft work was to hard. They want to sit behind a desk and do nothing.

About the part I quoted, many employees cut corners because they need to get done faster. Then the get caught and are issued discipline.

This falls back into management for expecting the impossible.
Those who are, know those who are not.

If you think they are after you, what did you do wrong?

I'd rather that you improve your reading comprehension. Why are you ignoring Marketing mail, the equivalent of first class mail. It is made up of both flats and letters as opposed to packages.

We should go to 7 day mail delivery. It makes sense, and then instead of a rotating drop day and Sunday, our rotating day off becomes DAYS off... letting us have to two days off back to back every week!

They have been talking about 5 day delivery since the 1980's. It was crazy to talk about it then, with 1st class mail growing every year (until 2006), but the case for it is much stronger now.
