Congrats on the preference sheet.

What's your timeline been?

How much did the "accelerated" background investigation speed things up? I have a recent T5 BI from OPM so trying to figure out what to expect.

Honestly, I'm not sure how much it sped things up. I know that last week, my references were contacted. My BI was started in March 2020, right as the shutdown began. I applied under the August 2018 announcement.

They said this Preference Sheet is for DI Class#56. Can someone confirm that this is the class coming up this summer? I went back and looked at a few older posts, and I didn't see anything, but I did kinda rush through it.

They must have changed it up since my applicant group (2017). We were fingerprinted at the interview.

Same here, but I guess that's hard to do now when these guys are doing video interviews.

Good point!

@Prep: Cool. Did they only contact the list of references you provided, or go beyond that?

I know for a fact that they contacted 2 of the 4 I had listed. One was a personal reference (a friend/coworker). The other was my manager. The other 2 I listed have not said anything about being contacted, and I know them well enough that if they had been contacted, they would have told me.

Thanks for the congrats, y'all! I'm getting kinda nervous now. LOL But this is what I asked for and what I applied for, so...we'll see! I know this isn't a guarantee I'll get in the next class, but at least it's "the next step"! We'll see what happens!

I remember they literally snatched me up and took me downstairs immediately when I got there to do the interview. Like "hey, first things first." LOL Then I'm trying to get the ink off my fingers while still trying to remember what I had studied for the interview. LOL I knew if they were fingerprinting me that they were serious about hiring me.

Just got my email asking for references for the accelerated pre-employment check.

It asks for "all employment for the last 5 years", but I've been at my current job for 8. So I guess I just fill in the current employment section? I see all these empty spaces under "previous employment" and I feel like I'm doing something wrong leaving them blank.

Only put what they've asked for "last 5 years" since you've been at your job for 8, you're covered! Congratulations and good luck!!

Haha!! Yes! I think it took a couple of days for me to get all the ink off my fingers.

I have the exact same timeline as DI Hopeful 2020... so how long after you get the Accelerated Background form do they actually contact your references and more importantly how long till you get preference sheets? Does anyone know if the they will allow you to EOD before the Academy at a local dea office?

I'm pretty close to the same--my COE was October and then medical in December.

I imagine that "accelerated" is probably going to still be 9-12 months instead of 12-18.

For those that got the "Accelerated Background" email.... did you all already meet with your background investigator (over phone/in person) and THEN you got the ACCELERATED forms? Or you have not yet meet/heard from a background investigator? I have already met with my background investigator and then I got the email to get an interim clearance ?

I hadn't heard anything at all since I did my medical exam, then I got the email asking me to fill out the form with references for the accelerated background. Haven't talked to an investigator or even started the EQIP or anything.

There doesn't seem to be a typical process from what I've followed in the forum. I'm sure the agency has its reasons! Lol!

03-21-2021: Received an email saying in order to continue the accelerated pre-employment process that they need to contact my references. They attached a blank reference form for me to complete.

03-21-2021: I completed the form and returned it

04-01-2021: My references were contacted (1 manager, 1 personal)

04-08-2021: Received my Preference Sheet

I don't have an answer for your last question though. Maybe a current DI will see this and can chime in?
