Doing some research on how the Federal PFL works and if I will be eligible come October. I have an interesting situation though... see below.

I started employment with the VA on 03/30/2020 and was a term employee (NTE 4 years), in March 2021 I received an official final job offer for a new position with DHS to start on 4/26/2021; DHS then notified my VA HR rep that I would be transferring to their agency (DHS) and they need to release me on 4/25/21... well, on 4/23/21 DHS notified me that there was a last minute issue and I couldn't start on the 26th. They then notified the VA HR and asked them to amend my VA release date, the VA refused and said that my term officially expired with the VA and that was that. So now it appears I am not a federal employee but luckily on active duty orders in the meantime. My question is, if I start this DHS position sometime in June, would I be eligible for PFL in October when my child is due, or am I now not eligible because I will have a gap in service?
