Internal Revenue Service
As a bureau of the Department of the Treasury and as one of the world's most efficient tax administrators, the IRS role is to help the large majority of compliant taxpayers with the tax law, while ensuring that the minority who are unwilling to comply pay their fair share. (Source: www.irs.gov)

good news, finally heard back from HR and I am indeed qualified. Guess USAjobs used an older transcript and I did not notice.
I do have a question on how the travel normally works though. I am guessing we are suppose to use our own vehicle when traveling, is there a mileage reimbursement or do they give us a charge card for gas? Company vehicle would be nice but I assume thats a no go lol.

Scotty is right that all training is going to be virtual. Once we’re traveling again we’re reimbursed for mileage at whatever the federal mileage reimbursement rate is. In 2021 it’s 56 cents a mile. Some offices have a government car that RO’s can use but I don’t think this is very common anymore. Most RO’s rather use their own car though because its extra money (tax free) in their pocket every month. Depending how large the area you cover is that’s usually several hundred per month. I usually averaged about $300-500 in mileage per month going out in the field about one day per week.

Dear xxxxxxxx
This is to formally notify you that we are rescinding the system-generated notice that indicated that you had failed one of the Revenue Officer assessments.
You have Passed the Revenue Officer Assessment and will receive further notifications based on any claimed Veterans Preference and your Quality Grouping. I was declined on April 15th because the email I received said I didn’t pass the ROSA. Then I received the same email today. Then my status change to reviewing qualification. It previously went back to accepting application when I was denied. I actually appealled my failed ROSA and they determined that there was something wrong with the testing source and I had passed just like I did the previous time I took it. However I had already been hired based on my internal application. So maybe they reviewed all the tests.

Pretty upset since I have been really hoping to move into this position. If you’re a GS-5 with 52 weeks time in grade and applied as an internal it shouldn’t matter about specialized experience. I'm actually in a temp position, so unable to apply to any internal spots. I emailed the HR person listed last night and so far no response. Hopefully Monday, but honestly I'm not gonna hold my breath. Not really surprised by this. Don’t assume anything until you’re told you didn’t get it or until you’re told you did. You don’t know who will be offered the job and not show up. You might be the next man/woman up. Nothing happens fast at the Govt. My fellow vets will understand but you have to get use to ‘hurry up and wait’ Would it be too soon to send a follow-up email or maybe call tomorrow? I know these things take time but I also know that HR likes to just ignore people. Don't want my issue to be overlooked and forgotten about. Usually when I have emailed HR in the past they have either gotten back to me right away or the next day. I send emails every week and include the general and the person that emailed me the denial.

Hopefully this gives people some indication on when they might start. Nothing with the IRS is ever set in stone though so this timeframe could change especially since the trainings are all virtual. Internals start date 6/20.

Thanks for that information. Is it for virtual training? Thanks It's going to be virtual and there may be some traveling next year in 2022.

Company vehicle would be nice but I assume thats a no go lol. I knew it. There was no way you would have not qualified after presenting your updated transcripts with your GPA/degree. That's why we should always double check our Resume, Documents, everytime we apply for a new position. We sometimes assume everything is perfect but we might have not updated our most recent SF-50, latest position, most recent appraisal, or degree. I have seen it happen many times. And always request a 2nd review, (appeal), with the proper documents. Edited by user Friday, May 7, 2021 7:10:26 PM(UTC)

I had a HR specialist higher up emailed me regarding about my application on a different announcement due to a mistake from a new HR specialist during the hiring process. It's been a waiting game for me on the RO announcement, so hopefully I received an update.

Hey how were you able to appeal the decision. I was not rated for GS-9 but was for GS-7 and I have a Master's and work experience. I may have missed it being previously posted but I did not see it.

Does anyone know where the Revenue Officer Office/s is/are in Houston?
I applied there but there are 4 different IRS locations there. There might be different offices for different functions or maybe all have Revenue Offiers there. I do not know.
If anyone knows, you can write here or PM me.
Thanks,
Nick

I was offered a position in Houston, but I declined it.

Oh, since you're an internal applicant, I just checked the internal announcement and they listed 2 specific locations with the addresses, which they didn't for the external announcement, but both announcements are for the same positions. Didn't think of looking at the internal announcement because I would not qualify. Good thing that you chimed in here. Now, the 8 additional positions in Houston for which they amended the external announcement are not specified, but I guess they will also be in the 2 aforementioned locations in the internal announcement, or they would have listed the additional address/es separately. Thanks a lot!
