So the IRS is weird, I was referred for an IR01 position and for the same position at a lower pay grade was not referred. It said that I didn't meet the minimum qualifications. So how am I best qualified for the higher level position, but no qualified for the lower level one.

isaken, I had the same exact issue when applying for the lower grade announcements and never would get referred. Those announcements also had far more openings. The best I'd previously gotten and on only one occasion was a rating given to me which was a Category B. I've applied for the IRS openings for several years now with no success. I emailed the HR listed on the job announcement that I am currently referred to asking to see if there are any updates. The job announcement had an estimated start date of June and we are almost already into August. How long did it take for them to respond to you?

I had to send 2 separate emails in regards to the job, with a total of 3 weeks for a reply.

So yesterday, I got an email saying the external posting for the position I had applied for was cancelled and it reflects not hired on the application website.

Oh no! I'm sorry about that happening to you! It seems like it took so long only to get a cancellation notice. I've had this happen to me before even after I had gotten interviewed for the position. Don't give up and keep applying sometimes it just takes a while to get what you want.

It's been awhile and there's nothing new to report. I emailed the HR listed on the announcement three weeks ago and didn't never got a response. Both of my referrals haven't changed in status. The last I got any news at all was over a month ago for the second announcement and over two months on the other. The job announcements had June and July as anticipated start dates so I'm hoping they are just running really behind and haven't made their selections yet.

I've also just recently gotten referred for another 35 openings to my second choice POD. My first choice wasn't available on this latest announcement. Also, I'm not sure if this announcement was to fill an additional 35 positions to the original 40 position announcement. The locations that I would consider the prime locations were no longer available so I'm thinking that everyone selected the most popular spots on the original announcement and not enough candidates were interested in some of the remaining locations. In any case, I'm now referred for 90 vacancies that were posted across three different announcements as a Category A TP Vet. The first closed in early April. The second in early May, and the third in early June. I'd have to move if selected for my second choice since I'm way out of the required 150 mile radius.

The six month register closed at the end of September and I haven't gotten any updates so I'm assuming that I was selected on that announcement. Also, the second referral that I have is for over 90 days ago and I haven't gotten any word on that one either. I'm guessing that if I end up getting interviewed/selected at all it'll be for my backup location which was on the third referral that I got at the end of August.

I applied for the same posting. I got a TO on 10/22. IRS Portal now shows that "You\'ve been selected". I also was a CPS Vet A on the email. I am also currently a Federal Employee, although it didn't matter on this one since it was a public posting. Edited by user Wednesday, October 27, 2021 5:45:36 AM(UTC)

Good news! Thanks for letting me know! There were 40 openings on that announcement, so I'm sure it must be taking awhile to notify all the selectees. Hope that means that I also get good news soon. What type of start date do you think you'll be getting? What area of the country are you selected for?

I don't have anything currently for a start date. I did the Fingerprinting for USAccess this week. Not sure what type of BI if any they are going to do, or if they will accept the current one that I have now. It is in Michigan, and if we hit another GOV Shutdown that would cause an issue. I'm thinking that they would accept the clearance that you already have especially considering that the position only calls for a public trust. You'll probably have to do the finger prints etc. but not the SF86 since you already have a clearance. If there is a gov't shutdown you'll probably just get delayed on your start date. This should be a good position for you since you'll probably mostly get to telework and it is a GS14 non supervisory opportunity. Congrats!

I got a non selected notice for the 6 month register. I'm still referred for two other announcements as a Category A TP Vet. I'm most qualified for the second referral but there were far fewer positions available for that announcement. The notice that I received for the 6 month register says the following: Thank you for applying to this position with the IRS. Although we found you to be among the best qualified applicants for this announcement, we regret to inform you that another candidate was selected for this position.

I've gotten back three non selections. One of the referrals I've never heard back about and that was the one I'm most qualified for.

GS-14 position sounds like an internal position.
If it’s an external position you’ll like get a referral and an interview.
Vets generally get dibs on interviews.
If it’s internal vets preference plays no official role.

I've gotten selected! The closest place of duty on the announcement was 280 miles from me though. I'll probably be required to move since the closest POD to my home wasn't on the announcement. I'll move if I have to though since they have a location available that I like and it is a promotion for me. I'm going to keep looking into seeing if HR would let me work from one of the PODs that are near me though to avoid the move. There are two nearby. Anyone have any advise on the situation?
