I have tried searching for this answer and can't find it.

If due to my TOD, and the requirements of my job being in a 24/7 facility, if I HAVE to work on a holiday, will I get both holiday pay for the time worked and a day off in lieu of because I am entitled to s. o many federal holidays by benefits?

I have worked for the fed govt for over 12 years and never been in this situation so it is new to me and others in my work environment give me conflicting information because its a relatively new circumstance for my profession in this particular environment. Some say that you can't "double dip" with both pay and a day off and I say that you have to pay according to bargaining rules such as weekend differential and holiday pay and as a perm full time employee, I am also entitled to a certain number of fed holidays. My TOD is Wed-Sat and this year the main winter holidays fall within my TOD and I would like to be better versed on my rights/benefits. I know for sure that if a holiday falls on my regularly scheduled day off, such as typical Monday holidays, I get an in-lieu of day off but I can't find regs on the pay/day off situation I listed above.

Please assist me in understanding this better.

What we do here "some non descript military base in the middle of nowhere", is this:

1. RDO's and Holidays that fall on RDO's.

If the holiday is on your RDO and you get another RDO.

If you end up exceeding 80 hours in a pay period (for us) due to work you get overtime.

2. For non-RDO Holidays.

If you end up working a Holiday, you get Holiday pay as overtime (we are straight 80 per pay period), but do not get another holiday in lieu of that one.

If you were scheduled due to a 24 hour schedule, you might get both Holiday pay and be due a holiday during that 14 day pay cycle. That makes sense, but how does your agency do it?
